KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Corban University men's basketball team was unable to cool off Oregon Tech in the second half of Friday evening's Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) battle on Danny Miles Court, as the Owls shot at a blistering 72% mark from the field in the final 20 minutes, storming from behind to claim an 83-69 win.
"I'm really proud of the way our guys fought tonight," said head coach Taylor Kelly. "We had control of the game for large stretches, but we were unable to withstand their barrage of threes in the second half, and we struggled to get stops. Tomorrow is a great opportunity to bounce back."
Competing in a notoriously difficult gym to win at as a visitor, the Warriors quieted the crowd early with a strong first-half effort, taking a four-point advantage into the locker room at halftime (35-31).
Unfortunately for the Warriors, the Owl offense ignited in the latter half, sinking shot after shot—including eight of its 11 attempts from downtown—in a sizzling second-half shooting performance.
Keegan Shivers was at the forefront of the Owl onslaught, scoring 20 of his 27 total points after the break, including a 6-of-8 effort from the perimeter in the second half.
Additionally, Kaison Faust (11 points, 4-of-4 FG) was efficient and effective, and veterans Garret Albrecht and Harrison Steiger each ended the night with 10 points and four rebounds.
Corban put together a strong shooting performance in its own right, ending the night with a 44.8% mark from the floor and 54.5% clip from three-point range.
Taylor Anderson was exceptional, scoring 16 points on a 6-of-8 (3-of-3 3PT) effort from the field. Providing an electrifying spark off the bench, Kendall Moore ended the night with a team-best 17 points on 7-of-14 shooting, while also collecting five boards.
Psalm Maduakor led all Warriors with six rebounds, while also tallying nine points.
Corban (6-6, 1-3 CCC) will need to have a short memory, as tomorrow presents another pivotal early-season conference battle. The Warriors will travel to Ashland, Ore. to face off with Southern Oregon University on Saturday, with tip-off slated for 5 p.m.
