CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) office announced the 2020 All-Conference teams on Tuesday morning, with six members of the No. 19 Corban University men's soccer team being listed among the honorees.
Matheus Giron, Justin Keegan, Carlos Llamosa, and Noe Favila were all named to the All-CCC First Team, while Chadwayne Johnson collected Second-Team accolades and Robin Terry landed Honorable-Mention recognition. "I'm excited for our guys to get individual recognition after winning the conference again," said head coach Tim Kagey. "I think we have a very talented group and I'm excited to see what we do in the tourney!"
After winning CCC Newcomer of the Year honors last year, Giron followed up his impressive debut season with an incredible 2020-21 campaign. The 2019 All-American scored 12 goals—five of which were game-winners—to lead the CCC in the category. He also dished out six assists on the season, and his three points per game average ranks third in the NAIA. Even with the abbreviated season, his numbers stand among the best in the country, as he ranks fourth in the nation in game-winning goals per game (0.50), sixth in total game-winning goals (5), 10th in goals per game (1.200), 11th in shots on goal per game (2.60), 13th in shots per game (4.40), 23rd in assists per game (0.60), 24th in total points (30), and 26th in total goals (12).
For Keegan, it's the second All-Conference award (and first First-Team plaudit) of his decorated young career in goal for the Navy and Gold. Among qualified individuals (min. five games played), Keegan led the CCC West Division in goals-against-average (0.87). He notched a total of 16 saves throughout the season, tallying a CCC West Division-leading five shutouts.
Also crucial to the squad's defensive success, Llamosa captained the Navy and Gold's back line. In addition to helping spearhead the team to the lowest goals-against-average (min. five games) in the CCC West Division (0.80), he also made his presence felt on the offensive end, scoring four goals and dishing out three assists, both of which ranked third on the team.
Favila was exceptional for Kagey and company in his senior campaign with the squad, tying for the CCC lead in assists with seven. An integral part of the Navy and Gold attack, he also found the back of the net five times in the 2021 spring campaign, ranking second on the squad. A dynamic offensive talent and a spark plug when the Warriors needed it most, Favila completely changes the landscape of a game when he is on the pitch.
It's the first All-Conference award of Johnson's career, as the Kingston, Jamaica native enjoyed a breakout season in 2021 en route to Second-Team status. Johnson scored a trio of goals for the Warriors, while also adding an assist to his regular-season stat line.
For Terry, it's his second-straight season earning All-CCC Honorable Mention accolades. A testament to the depth of Corban's arsenal, many in and around the Warrior club feel as if Terry is one of the top defenders in the entire conference, and his presence in the Corban back line is invaluable to the squad's success. Not only did he play an integral in the Navy and Gold's suffocating defense, but he also dished out an assist on the 2021 spring campaign.
Corban (8-1-1, 6-1-1 CCC) has already earned the CCC West Division Championship and claimed an automatic berth to the NAIA National Tournament. It is the squad's eighth-consecutive trip to the national championships, and it will begin with the NAIA Opening Round on April 22-24. The Warriors will learn their opening-round destination and grouping on April 19 at 10 a.m. PT.
