Corban Volleyball Earns Five All-CCC Honorees, Troutman Named Freshman of the Year

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) office announced the 2020 Volleyball All-Conference team on Thursday, recognizing the conference's top performers on the court from the spring campaign. Five members of the No. 13 Corban University volleyball team—Rylee Troutman, Kealani Ontai, Avari Ridgway, Ally Tow, and Jadyn Mullen (Honorable Mention)—were recognized, with Troutman also being named the conference's Freshman of the Year.

It has been an exceptional rookie season for Troutman, who boasts an attack percentage of .231 (11th in the CCC) for the season, averaging 2.46 kills per set. She has been one of the Warriors' most effective and efficient attackers, ranking second on the team in kills (128) and third in attack percentage (min. 50 kills). The honor points to a bright future ahead for the dynamic and talented attacker.

"Rylee has been a great addition to the team this year," head coach Kim McLain said of the rookie. "She has a strong physical presence at the net. She brought with her a great understanding of the game, which helped her adapt to the tough pace of the CCC."

Meanwhile, it is Ontai's third-straight season reaching All-Conference status, coming off All-CCC Honorable-Mention awards in each of her first two campaigns in the Navy and Gold. The Warrior libero has turned in yet another incredible performance in 2020-21, ranking third in the CCC in digs per set (5). Competing in her third season—including an abbreviated 2020-21 schedule—she has already compiled the fifth-most career digs (1,360) in program history.

"Kea has a drive that is infectious," McLain stated. "Her determination and tenacity defensively are amazing! Her quickness and never-give-up attitude are impeccable as a back-court leader."

Ridgway is also no stranger to All-CCC honors, as Thursday's award represents her second-straight season with the distinguished recognition. She has shouldered the load for the Navy and Gold offensively this spring, ranking third in the conference in kills with 160, and fourth in kills per set with 3.1. The junior from McMinnville, Ore. turned in an otherworldly first half of the campaign, registering double-digit kills and a .500 attack percentage or better in five of the squad's first eight matches. In addition to her offensive efforts, she has also stepped up in a big way defensively, tallying 117 digs so far this season to mark a new career high.

"Avari is an outstanding and knowledgeable player," McLain raved. "Her drive and hard work are incredible! She is a selfless leader, and willing to work beyond the court. Avari gives to the team and makes everyone around her feel like a million bucks."

Making waves in her first season with the Navy and Gold, Ally Tow joined the fold in 2020-21 and immediately made her presence felt. She enters postseason play averaging 2.35 kills per set, sitting at No. 12 in the CCC in attack percentage (.227). She has been a steady and reliable presence for McLain and company, rounding out one of the nation's most talented front courts.

Speaking on Tow's talent and impact, McLain stated: "Ally brings court awareness and understanding of the game, and they have been huge additions to the team. Her hard work, character, and fight are contagious. She is a great leader both on and off the court!"

For Mullen, it's the first All-Conference award of her career, as she collects Honorable-Mention accolades after another strong season handling setting duties for the Navy and Gold. Her 5.8 assists per set rank fifth in the CCC, and her 291 total assists rank fourth. In addition to her excellence in running the offense, she also has made a significant impact on the defensive end, notching 78 digs in the 2020-21 regular season.

"Jadyn's hard work and attention to detain have given her great growth this year," McLain noted. "Her character and her leadership are top-notch. She is quick to the ball and strong defensively."

Perhaps most exciting of all, all five of Corban's All-Conference honorees have at least one year of eligibility remaining, serving as a testament to the exciting future ahead for the talented core and for the team as a whole.

The Warriors will kick off postseason play tomorrow, facing Oregon Tech in the CCC Tournament Semifinals. First serve is slated for 4 p.m. in La Grande, Ore.
