Corban Athletic Communications Honored with Multiple NAIA-SIDA Awards

SALEM, Ore. – The NAIA Sports Information Directors Association (SIDA) recently honored the Corban University athletic communications department with four awards from the organization's annual Publications and Media Contest. The accolades highlight the department's exceptional work in the realm of sports information.

The NAIA-SIDA Publications and Media Contest aims to recognize excellence in the athletic communications field across the NAIA's 250 institutions.

The Corban University athletic communications team—consisting of Jarett Thoren (Associate Athletic Director) and Brendan Sweany (Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant) in 2020-21—has been a perennial honoree on the prestigious annual list of award-winners, and this year's accolades further demonstrate the department's commitment to showcasing the God-given giftings and talents of Corban student-athletes and teams.

Four years ago, Corban became the first school in the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) to utilize motion graphics and GIFs to showcase the in-game achievements of student-athletes. This year, the school was honored with the No. 8 and No. 9-ranked motion graphics (GIFs) in the NAIA.

The Navy and Gold racked up the No. 4-rated award infographic, coming from a breaking-news graphic announcing Corban men's wrestling standout Cooper McCullough as the conference Wrestler of the Week back in February.

Lastly, the Warriors were recognized with the No. 3-ranked digital wallpaper in the NAIA.

In addition, earlier in the year, Thoren was featured in the cover story of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) magazine for his pioneering creative work in sports information at the small-college level.
