No. 7 Corban Volleyball Dominates Warner Pacific in Third-Straight Sweep

PORTLAND, Ore. – Kickstarted by a dominating 25-2 set-one victory, the No. 7-ranked Corban University volleyball team cruised to a straight-set victory over Warner Pacific University (25-2, 25-12, 25-10) on Friday evening in Portland.

"It was great to see everyone contribute to another conference win," said head coach Kim McLain. "I was proud of how the team played together as a unit."

The squad's 25-2 triumph in the first game of Friday's match represents the program's all-time largest margin of victory in a set. Through the first nine matches of the 2021 fall season, the Warriors have won 30 of their 33 sets, and have lost just three.

The Navy and Gold trailed by just three points total in Friday's match, delivering yet another dominant display with a .372 team hitting percentage. The Knights hit at a -.065 clip, marking the third time this season Corban has held an opponent to a sub-zero attacking mark.

Showing the squad's depth, eight Warriors collected at least one kill, and six members of the team notched three or more.

Avari Ridgway led the way with eight kills on an efficient .467 hitting percentage, while Ally Tow was just a couple putaways behind her with six kills (.353 hitting percentage).

Allyson Reid continues to be precise and effective at the net, racking up five kills in six total attempts (.833 hitting percentage), while Rylee Troutman (.417 hitting percentage) joined her at the five-kill mark.

Rookies Ainslie Ridgway (four kills) and Jadah Schmidtke (three kills, 1.000 hitting percentage) got in on the action, playing a significant role in the Warrior triumph.

Jadyn Mullen (14 assists) turned in another strong performance as a setter for the Navy and Gold, accompanied primarily by Courtney Garwood (13 assists), who was making her setting debut for the squad.

Defensively, Kealani Ontai led all performers with 11 digs.

For the Knights, it was Grace Buchanan who shouldered the load, leading all performers with 10 kills (.061 hitting percentage) in the Knights' defeat.

Corban (9-0, 3-0 CCC) will be back in action tomorrow night in Portland, taking on Multnomah University (1-3, 0-3 CCC) at 5 p.m.
