No. 7 Corban Volleyball Ties Record with 10th-Straight Win, Sweeps Multnomah

PORTLAND, Ore. – The No. 7-ranked Corban University volleyball team continued its torrid start to the 2021 fall season, handedly defeating Multnomah University (25-6, 25-19, 25-13) on Friday evening in Portland. The win pushes the squad's season-opening win streak to 10 matches, matching the 1997 and 2019 seasons for the program's all-time record.

"It was great to get another conference win," said head coach Kim McLain. "We look forward to getting back into the gym to work on details that we will need with the tough journey ahead."

Similar to yesterday's dominating 25-2 set-one victory, the Warriors stormed out of the gates in the first game of Saturday evening's battle. Corban established its potent attack from the onset, cruising to a 25-6 triumph in the opening stanza.

The Lions bounced back and hung tough with the Navy and Gold in set two, but in the end, Corban was able to hold onto victory (25-19) in the second game. Set three was another powerful offensive display for the visitors, as the Warriors hit at a stellar .462 mark in the third frame to seal their eighth straight-set victory of the young season.

Ally Tow attacked at a season-high .583 mark to spearhead Corban's efforts, tying Rylee Troutman (.250 attack percentage) for the team-high in kills with eight. Avari Ridgway (.333 attack percentage) and Sarena Bartley (.364 attack percentage) each turned in valuable offensive efforts, registering five kills apiece.

Serving as the primary facilitator, Jadyn Mullen dished out 19 assists.

On the defensive side of things, Rylee Troutman (six digs), Kealani Ontai (five digs), and Marissa Uehara (five digs) led a pack of 13 Warriors who were credited with at least one dig on the evening.

Corban (10-0, 4-0 CCC) will have a chance to make history on Tim Hills Court on Tuesday evening, hosting Interstate-5 rival Bushnell University. The Warriors will have a chance to set a new program record for most consecutive wins, with first serve for the conference home-opening match scheduled for 7 p.m.
