BOX SCORE KIRKLAND, Wash. --- The No. 7 ranked Corban volleyball team stormed passed the Eagles tonight in Kirkland. After strong performances across the board, the Warriors improve their record to 14-0.
Head Coach Kim McLain says, "The team came in tonight focusing on executing the details knowing Northwest is a well-coached team and is strong at the net. We knew we had to serve tough and pass well. I am proud of how we stayed with our game plan throughout the entire match."
The Navy and Gold grabbed the momentum early and was able cruise to a 25-12 win in the first set. Some miscommunications from the Warriors and a few key Eagle blocks allowed the Northwest to snatch back the momentum during set two, but the Navy and Gold quickly got things under control and maintained the lead for the rest of the set. The Eagles mounted a small comeback before the Warriors were able to slam the door and take the second set 25-16.
The Eagles kept it close in the third set, staying within five points until the Warriors got the momentum back to take the final set at 25-16.
The Warrior defense was on fire with Allyson Reid recording seven block assists, while Kealani Ontai and Avari Ridgway both recorded 13 digs. Offensively, the Navy and Gold were strong across the board with nine players recording at least one kill for the Warriors. Jadyn Mullen notched 20 assists and Ciarra Judson recorded nine.
The Warriors (14-0, 8-0 CCC) will be back in action tomorrow night in Olympia to face the Evergreen State College at 6 p.m.
