HELENA, Mont. – After a strong start to Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) play, the Corban University softball team takes two more from the Carroll College Fighting Saints to improve to an 8-8 overall record and a perfect 3-0 in CCC play.

After a stellar outing yesterday, Holly Gonzales started in the circle for the Navy and Gold in game one. The southpaw delivered six strikeouts and allowed only five hits and two earned runs in her five innings on the mound for the Warriors, enough to earn the win.

The Saints fought until the bitter end and even blasted a three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to start a comeback, but reliever Alise Olson slammed the door by causing a flyout and a groundout to secure Gonzales' win.

Miscues by the home team allowed Corban to score seven runs on just six hits in the contest. The Warriors took advantage of the mistakes and strung hits together to propel them to a 7-5 victory in game one.

Game two started in dynamic fashion for the Warriors who scored seven and hit through their lineup in the first inning. The fiery Corban offense continued to blaze throughout the remainder of the five-inning game and five Warriors turned in multi-hit performances including Reagan Davis (3-3, 3 RBI, 3 R), Sarah Parker (2-4, 2 2B, 4 RBI, R), Cambria Kerze (2-2, BB, RBI, 3 R), Morgan Gleeson (2-2, 3 RBI, R), and Kaycee Arase (2-2, R).  

In the last decade the Navy and Gold has scored 18 runs in a single game just twice, but managed to drive in a program-record 19 in game four of the series in the Big Sky Country.

Olson came in as a reliever in the bottom of the first, and was able to deliver 10 flyouts, two groundouts, and a strikeout in her five innings. Olson earned the game two win, with just 55 pitches thrown. The final score was 19-8.

The Warriors will take the field next weekend in Salem, hosting the No. 3-ranked College of Idaho Yotes in a four-game series beginning Friday at 1 p.m.
