SALEM, Ore. – The No. 8-ranked Corban University beach volleyball team showed its grit once again in a day-two split at the Northwest Invitational, fighting valiantly in a 4-1 loss to University of Oregon before downing University of Portland (3-2) in the team's final dual of the weekend tournament.

Matching a pair of NCAA Division I institutions stride-for-stride, the Navy and Gold once again proved itself capable of playing with the Northwest's best, a testament to the level of talent possessed by the young program.

"I'm very proud of coming out 2-and-2 on the weekend," said head coach Diana Villalpando. "I'm also proud of how we came back after battling with Oregon and carried over that aggressive mentality into our match against Portland. We did a great job of playing tough, and we executed when it counted."
