SALEM, Ore. – The No. 8-ranked Corban University beach volleyball team welcomed NCAA Division I University of Portland to the Warrior beach volleyball courts on Thursday afternoon. The two squads traded 4-1 victories in the doubleheader split.
After falling in the first pairs match of the day, Corban answered back to win the final four matches of Thursday's first dual, making history with the program's first-ever victory over an NCAA Division I opponent.

The Pilots flipped the script in a gritty second dual, garnering a 4-1 win of their own in the latter half of Thursday's doubleheader. It was a tense battle between the squads throughout the contest, as all but one of the five counting matches went to three sets.

Playing as a tandem for the first time on Thursday, McMillian and Ayala shined brightest for the Navy and Gold, winning each of their two matches against the Pilots' No. 4 pairing. For the rookie McMillian, the triumphs mark her first collegiate wins.

Corban (3-1) will be back in action on Tuesday, March 8, welcoming Bushnell University back to campus in a midweek matinee in the capital city. The Warriors won each of their first two duals against the Beacons on February 25.
