CHULA VISTA, Calif. – The No. 6-ranked Corban University beach volleyball team took care of business in each of its two pool play matches on day one of the Cal-Pac Conference Tournament, defeating No. 7-seeded Marymount California University (5-0) and No. 6-seeded Bushnell University (4-1) on Thursday.
"Today was a test of skill, preparation, and beating the elements of weather," said head coach Diana Villalpando. "The girls did a great job of preparing with one goal in mind: to hold our seed. Now, we have to do it all over again tomorrow."
The Warriors will now look ahead to the bracket play portion of the tournament, seeded 2nd in the grouping for tomorrow's single-elimination tournament. Corban will face off with Marymount once again, competing at 11 a.m.

After defeating the Mariners, the Navy and Gold matched up with a familiar foe in Bushnell, downing the Beacons for the team's second dual win of the day.

Corban (14-3) will now look ahead to bracket play tomorrow, with each of the squads at the tournament being re-seeded for a single-elimination tournament to determine the winner of the Cal-Pac Championships.
Should the Navy and Gold defeat the Mariners again, the squad from Salem would battle against the winner of Bushnell and Park Gilbert.
"Tomorrow will be the true test of putting everything together that we've worked on all season long," Villalpando added. "These are strong, amazing women, capable of pushing back any obstacle tomorrow; we just need to go out and execute."

The tournament victor will earn a spot at the NAIA Beach Volleyball National Championships on April 21-23 in Panama City, Fla.
