Warrior Men’s Wrestling Selected to Seventh Place Finish in CCC Coaches’ Preseason Poll

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) office announced the 2023-24 CCC Men's Wrestling Coaches' Preseason Poll on Thursday morning, where the Corban University Men's Wrestling program was tabbed for a seventh-place finish in what could arguably be stated as the most competitive conference in the entire NAIA when it comes to collegiate wrestling.

"The preseason rankings typically follow last year's postseason finish, and this year's results reflect that," explained Warriors' head coach Nolan Harris. "We are returning a majority of our roster with some key additions that excites us for this upcoming season. The competition schedule we put together and the work, growth, and development our guys have put forward and still have to come is setting us up for another upward trending season."

Coach Harris carried on with his analysis by stating, "We'll certainly be battle tested as a member of the CCC, which has a lot of talent and is a very deep conference as far as college wrestling is concerned. It will make for a competitive conference tournament at which we hope to be wrestling at our best and improve upon any previous conference finish. It is most certainly going to be a fun season."

Defending conference champion squad Menlo College garnered eight of the eleven first-place votes and 116 points total to sit atop the preseason rankings, as they took home two of the ten individual conference weight-class championships in the 2022-23 season. Southern Oregon University was right behind the Oaks with 97 points in a second-place finish, while the University of Providence rounded out the top three with 93 points. Both the Raiders and Argos each earned a first-place vote as well.

Montana State University-Northern trailed the Argos in the poll by just a single vote to earn a fourth-place finish, with Eastern Oregon University securing 84 voter points to close out the top five for the CCC.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (63), Corban (50), and Vanguard University (49) represent the wildcard programs that are more than capable of stirring up some chaos in the conference this year, while Arizona Christian University (36), The Evergreen State College (31), and Simpson University (15) close out the 2023-24 preseason poll in what will surely be another exciting year of collegiate wrestling in the Pacific Northwest corner of the NAIA.

The Warriors will start their regular season schedule in less than two weeks from today with an intrasquad scrimmage on October 28th at 6pm, which will be the only opportunity for Warrior Nation to see the men's wrestling squad in action on their home mats until early December.
