"We're happy for Isaiah and it is fitting that he is the Wrestler of the Week, as he represented Corban University and the CCC well this weekend," explained Twait's head coach Nolan Harris. "He picked up bonus points throughout the tournament, was aggressive, and made great in-match adjustments to widen the gap between him and his opponents. I am excited for this season and to see him hunt down and chase his goals. His performance was a great approach and execution to model the rest of his season from."
Competing at the Falcon Open this past weekend, the senior turned in one of the premier performances of the tournament, capturing the elite division title at 184 pounds against a field featuring competitors from programs across the country.
Twait opened his tournament run with an 18-2 technical fall before rattling off a pair of major decisions to advance to the championship bout. In the finals, Twait delivered the signature victory of the weekend, defeating the nation's No. 6-ranked wrestler from defending national champions Grand View University to secure the tournament crown.
The championship performance highlighted a strong opening weekend for Corban wrestling, as Twait led a Warrior contingent that featured 13 student-athletes competing in both elite and amateur divisions at the season-opening event. Twait's dominance throughout the tournament was evident in both his results and bonus-point production. Three of his four victories came by bonus points, including two major decisions and a technical fall, showcasing the offensive attack that helped him climb to the top of the podium.
The weekly honor marks the first conference award of the season for the Warriors and further solidifies Twait as one of the CCC's top contenders entering the heart of the 2026-27 schedule. Twait and the Dubs will return to the mats this weekend when they compete in the Mountaineer Open, hosted by Eastern Oregon University in La Grande.
