Conference Leading No. 6 Corban Volleyball Claims Battle of Warriors with Three-Set Sweep of LC State

SALEM, Ore. – The No. 6-ranked Corban University Volleyball team claimed their 12th sweep of the Cascade Collegiate Conference season earlier this evening with a three-set win over Lewis-Clark State College, propelling the Navy and Gold to their sixth-consecutive win in their final home match of October. The entire lineup contributed to 25-15, 25-20, 25-12 final set scores to provide the team a season sweep over their conference mascot counterparts.

"Tonight, we came together as a team, determined to make a difference with each touch," Warriors' head coach Kim McLain explained when asked to speak on the team's play tonight. "I am proud of the way we are playing with a defensive mind set. I think the key factor going forward is to be the team that is making gains each day."

Everything came together this afternoon for one of Corban's (21-3, 15-1) most convincing wins in recent weeks, as they made adjustments on the fly to not allow an LC State (7-14, 6-10) rally of more than three-points for the entire match, while throwing together multiple runs of five or more points themselves on multiple occasions.

Another mammoth performance from junior outside hitter Rylee Troutman allowed the hometown Warriors to end their weekend on a high note, as she locked up her seventh double-double of the season with 19 kills and 13 digs. Sophomore setter Abby Guindy joined Troutman in the double-double club with a 22-assist and 10-dig performance for her fifth of the year, as the San Jose native out-assisted the entire visiting Warriors' lineup on her own, 22-16.

Junior libero Marissa Uehara matched Troutman for the game-high mark in digs with 13 of her own this evening and added a trio of service aces, while sophomore opposite hitter Makayla Roginski logged her third double-digit kill count in the past five matches with ten more in three sets played today.

Held to a .019 kill percentage for the entire evening, LC State was led at the net by outside hitter Juliauna Forgach Agu, who tallied eight kills and added a pair of digs. Setter Esther Kaliliponi nabbed the team-high assist mark at 10, while libero Natany Felix Guimara was the leading defensive player this evening with 16 digs in the backcourt.

Another long and exhausting road trip now sits between the No. 6-ranked Warriors and their Senior Weekend, as they'll begin a two-week slate at The Evergreen State College (3-16, 3-12) next Friday, October 20th, with a 7pm scheduled start time.
