Warriors’ 2023 Season Ends in CCC Tournament Quarterfinals

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – The Corban University Men's Soccer team had their final match of the 2023 season played out in the pouring rain this morning at the Les Schwab Sports Park, as the top seeded and No. 25-ranked Raiders of Southern Oregon University sent the Warriors home with a 5-0 victory in the quarterfinal knockout stage of the 2023 Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament earlier this afternoon.

"We gave it our all this season with a unique squad that grew and improved as the season progressed," Warriors' first year head coach Corbin Bowers said. "Unfortunately, it came to an end in playoffs and not the way we wanted it to. Now we move on and get ready to rebuild Warrior soccer for years to come."

Southern Oregon (17-2-0) took control of the match from the very start and never turned off the intensity and pressure on the Warriors (4-7-7), as the Raiders forced the issue and scored twice before the halftime horn and three more times in the second half to end the Navy and Gold's season.

Corban took seven shots this afternoon compared to 28 for Southern Oregon, with graduate student Nate Sherwood taking two of them, each of which also came on goal. Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Isaac Pureco hauled in seven saves in the Warriors' final game of the season.

The Warriors conclude the 2023 season with a 4-7-7 overall record and a season-defining victory at Oregon Tech, who moved into the conference semifinal round with an overtime win over Carroll College earlier today. The program will graduate a handful of seniors compared to years past where they've lost upwards of the entire starting roster and will look towards their spring season in 2024 to prepare them for the upcoming fall slate.
