SALEM, Ore. – The first recruiting class of the Dan Stephens era for the Corban University beach volleyball program has been revealed ahead of the team's 2024 spring season, with all four sand players joining for their first season of NAIA competition. All four recruits arrive to Corban having originated from four different states, with Washington, Alaska, Arizona, and Hawaii all being represented on the courts under the watchful eye of Coach Stephens and his staff.
"The additions to our team this year have stepped in and stepped up to fill vital rolls within this program," Coach Stephens shared regarding the first recruiting class under his tenure as head coach. "They have learned the 'Corban Beach' way of training, rain or shine, and hard work to better our game. I can't say enough about how grateful we are to have them on the Corban beach volleyball team."
The newly rostered beach volleyball specialists to the program can all be found below with a brief biography of the unique resumes they bring to the team.
Danae Stokes – 5'10" – Anchorage, Alaska – A.J. Dimond HS – Multnomah Univ.
An indoor volleyball All-Conference team member at fellow CCC member Multnomah University, now Multnomah Lions, Stokes arrives on Corban's campus with immediate eligibility having traded the hardwood for sand and is prepared to take the conference by storm once again. As an outside hitter for the Lions, she amassed nearly 500 kills and over 360 digs in four seasons of competition, starting in every match for Multnomah since her sophomore year. Prior to her collegiate career, Stokes was a four-time state champion for indoor volleyball at A.J. Dimond, having also clinched a triple jump individual state championship title for track & field as well.
Having earned her bachelor's degree from Multnomah, Stokes will be pursuing her Master's in Counseling while playing beach volleyball for Corban and hopes to one day become a mental health counselor.
Kiley Power – 5'4" – Spokane, Wash. – Cheney HS – Spokane Falls CC
One of two indoor transfers in the 2024 recruiting class, Power heads to Salem after two seasons playing for Spokane Fall Community College in the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC), serving as the team's starting setter in the fall of 2022. During her sophomore campaign, she dealt out nearly 400 assists alongside 244 digs and 30 service aces to earn the distinction of Team MVP, earning an All-East Region Sophomore team appearance and two Dean's List awards along the way. She'll look to build upon her success from both community college and high school (three-sport athlete) with a fresh start in the sand.
Power will be studying for a degree in counseling psychology while she's a member of the Navy and Gold.
Jordan Faircloth – 5'7" – Tucson, Ariz. – Salpointe Catholic HS
Faircloth brings a loaded achievement list to the Warriors as an incoming true freshman, having earned a handful of beach volleyball awards in both high school and club play where the sport is more prevalent in sunny Arizona. Among her many accolades, Faircloth earned three-straight state championships with Salpointe Catholic and was an All-State player her senior year after representing her program on the All-Conference listing during their trifecta run. Her pairing was also the runner up duo in the All-Arizona D2 State Pairs Tournament and played for both the University of Arizona Walker Beach Volleyball and Zona Indoor Volleyball clubs.
She will be double majoring in biomedical science and criminal justice to begin her collegiate beach volleyball career.
Cammie Masanda – 5'6" – Keaau, Hawaii – Kamehameha Hawaii HS
The final recruit of the 2024 class comes to Corban from over the Pacific Ocean in her hometown of Keaau, Hawaii, as Masanda grew up in the sand and looks to continue that trend as a Warrior. She played on a handful of beach volleyball club teams, most notably the Hilo Beach Volleyball Club, and was a member of the runner-up team in the 2023 KVA Women's Summer Jam Open. Having also played three years of varsity indoor volleyball and earned All-League Honorable Mention on two occasions, Masanda will have an opportunity to continue to grow upon that success in the Pacific Northwest.
Masanda will be studying biology with a concentration on biokinetics to kick off her freshman campaign.
