No. 8 Warriors Tame Lions for Eighteenth-Consecutive Matchup

SALEM, Ore. – An incredibly consistent night by the entire No. 8-ranked Corban University Volleyball program at the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center allowed the Warriors to take a three-set sweep over the visiting Multnomah Lions, 25-14, 25-14, and 25-13. This marks the eighteenth-straight win for the Navy and Gold against the Lions, having never dropped a match to Multnomah and only losing two sets out of their 56 played.

Corban head coach Kim McLain shared, "The team played tonight with intention, focusing on not looking past each point. Our blocking stepped up tonight as well, putting pressure on them and serving tough in order to slow down their offense."

Scoring seven-straight points to start the contest allowed the Warriors (16-2, 12-1) to set the pace for success and never looked back in three dominant sets against the Lions (1-16, 1-12). Corban's defenders at the net held Multnomah to a negative kill percentage in two of the three sets played and -.021 for the match, while their offense found kills on a .255 clip, including a .438 percentage in the third set alone where they racked up 18 kills in their 25 points scored.

A 9-2 advantage in service aces was only the tip of the volleyball iceberg tonight for the Navy and Gold, as they also held statistical gains in total blocks (9-6), kills (44-16), assists (42-15), and digs (53-38). The serve-receive game set the stage for one of the program's most impressive wins of the season, holding the Lions to just 41 points all night long, with their season best coming against Multnomah back in September at 38 total points scored.

Warriors' sophomore outside hitter Emma Bischoff had one of her most efficient performances of the year tonight, dropping a game-best 14 kills on a .542 attacking percentage with just a single attacking error. She added a pair of service aces and five digs along the way, while junior opposite hitter Kylie Davey and sophomore outside hitter Kendra Bittle added eight and seven kills, respectively. Junior setter Abby Guindy led all student-athletes with 18 assists, while senior setter Courtney Garwood was right behind her teammate at 16 dimes and matched Guindy with six digs.

Defensively for the Navy and Gold, senior libero Marissa Uehara hauled in 11 digs to lead the backcourt against Multnomah, while senior middle blocker Allyson Reid swatted four block assists and a solo stuff at the net. Freshman defensive specialist Dani Street was the ace-in-the-hole for Coach McLain tonight, as the Corvallis native found paydirt on three separate occasions while at the service line.

Lions' opposite hitter JahNay Jardine led the road team with five kills and had the only positive kill percentage of the rotation, while setter Zoe Shuele dished out 13 assists and libero Lauren Porter led both programs with 17 digs, representing nearly half of her entire team's total digs for the match.

The home weekend continues tomorrow afternoon for the Warriors, as they'll host Warner Pacific University (1-14, 1-12) at 4pm back on Tim Hills Court.
