Warriors Record Third-Straight Road Draw, Play to Scoreless Decision Against Lions

PORTLAND, Ore. – The offenses were on full display today at Williford Field inside the Multnomah Athletic Complex, yet neither team was able to find the back of the net in a scoreless 0-0 draw for the Corban University Women's Soccer team. The Warriors (5-5-4, 2-3-3) and Multnomah Lions recorded a combined 34 shots this afternoon, 15 of which were on goal, but were unable to register a goal in Corban's third-consecutive tie during their six-game road trip that started at the beginning of October.

"Today we saw a lot more progress, but we are still missing that killer instinct in front of the goal," explained Corban head coach Travez Whyte following their third-straight tie. "Very proud of our Warriors' attitude and work ethic, and tomorrow is another game day to keep improving. Thanks for the continuous support, traveling Warriors!"

Looking to jump back into the win column after a 2-1 loss to their crosstown rivals last weekend, the Lions (5-5-4, 3-3-2) took Corban by surprise with a barrage of scoring opportunities over the opening minutes of the first half, yet the Warriors' defensive front was able to force wild shot attempts time after time. The Navy and Gold offense would join the party after playing on the defensive to open the match, eventually taking seven shots in total over the first 45 minutes of play compared to nine for Multnomah.

The aggressive Lions would eventually commit 14 fouls against the Warriors while Corban fouled only on four occasions, yet the intensity by Multnomah led to a handful of scoring opportunities that would end abruptly and unsuccessfully. On the opposite end of the field, the Navy and Gold saw multiple lengthy possessions and 1-on-1 breakaway chances foiled by Lions' goalkeeper Jennifer Alvillar, who recorded ten saves on the day to prevent her team from dropping their second-straight contest in conference play.

Warriors' senior forward Fatima Jimenez and freshman forward Maya Alston both registered four shots this afternoon, sharing the game-high shot on goal attempts with three apiece. For the Lions, five different student-athletes all took a shot on goal, with three of those four taking three shots on the game.

Corban sophomore goalkeeper Ava Hayes recorded her third shutout of the season and first on the road a la five saves in a full 90 minutes played, hardly needing to leave her post thanks to the time of possession the Warriors held.

A return trip to Portland is the final venture the Warriors will make outside of Salem for the remainder of the regular season, as they'll battle Warner Pacific University (4-7-2, 2-5-1) on the Knights' Senior Day at 12pm.
