Frizell Reveals First Recruiting Class as Corban Women’s Basketball Head Coach

SALEM, Ore. – Earlier this morning, Corban University Women's Basketball head coach Kylie Frizell announced her first recruiting class since she joined the university this spring, with an exclusive group composed entirely of incoming freshmen student-athletes from the Pacific Northwest.

"Our five freshmen have been a joy to coach and are the perfect fit for our squad," Frizell shared about the incoming recuits. "Their enthusiasm to come in everyday to be sponges and competes makes the gym better."

The newly rostered additions to the Corban women's basketball program can all be found below with a brief biography of the unique resumes they bring to the team.


Rachel Eichinger | 6-2 | Freshman | Center | Beaverton, Ore. | Life Christian HS

Personal: Hailing from Beaverton, Eichinger enters the Navy and Gold with aggressive defense and a two-sport high school resume. Eichinger earned all-league defense team and second team all-league honors during her three years of high school basketball. She also ran track for a year and played for Oregon Basketball club before joining to Corban.

Eichinger is pursuing a biomedical degree with plans of being a pediatric physician.

 

Kylie Ihrig | 5-6 | Freshman | Guard | Gresham, Ore. | Sam Barlow HS

Personal: Ihrig joins the Warriors roster following an impressive high school career as a three-sport athlete including basketball, volleyball, and track. Daughter of Izzy Ihrig, who played D1 basketball at Oregon State University, Ihrig was a part of the Sam Barlow High School women's basketball Oregon state runner-up program in 2021-22. She also received second team all-league honors for in her senior campaign in 2023-24.

Ihrig is pursuing a kinesiology degree with intentions to become an occupational therapist.

 

Ryleigh Parker | 5-2 | Freshman | Guard | Albany, Ore. | South Albany HS

Personal: Parker unites with Corban after a four-year varsity career at South Albany High School. Earning honorable mention awards her sophomore and senior campaigns, Parker lead her team to a third place finish in the Oregon State championship her final year. She also played a year of softball confirming her versatility as a guard.

Parker is pursuing an elementary education degree with hope of becoming a teacher after graduating.

 

Nina Peterson | 5-10 | Freshman | Guard | Vancouver, Wash. | Mountain View HS

Personal: Peterson joins the Navy and Gold after a successful high school career. At Mountain View High School, Peterson received all-league MVP and first team all-region honors during their 2023-24 League Champion season. She also collected two second all-league awards throughout her four-year varsity career.

Peterson will pursue a business degree while attending Corban.

 

Claire Smith | 6-0 | Freshman | Forward | Vancouver, Wash. | Prairie HS

Personal: After a storied career at Prairie High School, Smith will compete with the Warriors in the 2024-25 season. Smith was a two-sport athlete competing in soccer for three years and basketball for four years. As a three-year varsity-starter, she accumulated first team all-league honors her junior and senior years, as well as a second team all-league award her sophomore year. Smith led her team with 230 points and 47 offensive rebounds her final season, averaging twelve points and five rebounds a game.

Smith is pursuing a forensic psychology degree during her time at Corban.
