MEDFORD, Ore. – A four-goal halftime lead wasn't enough for the No. 10-ranked Yotes of The College of Idaho, as the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) regular season champions and lone nationally ranked team decided to take out a first round thrashing on the Corban University Women's Soccer team by adding six more in the second half, resulting in a quarterfinal exit for the Warriors of the CCC Tournament during their eleventh-straight postseason appearance to end the 2024 season.
"Definitely not how we wanted to end our season on paper, but I'm proud of the family we were able to create; filled with positivity and hard work for each other as we glorify God," Corban head coach Travez Whyte stated following their quarterfinal loss. "We've learned a lot this year and we will continue to build on it for next year. It's been a great journey, and huge thanks to all our Warriors out there for the support on and off the battlefield!"
A super hat trick (four goals) combined with a pair of assists by midfielder Abbi Roubidoux paced the way for the Yotes (15-0-2) as they steamrolled the Warriors (7-7-5) who suffered their second blowout loss of the season to C of I and conclude their 2024 postseason in the opening round at the Lithia & Driveway Field in southern Oregon. Forward Eden Makaafi was the only other Yotes with at least two goals, as she secured a brace and one of College of Idaho's nine assists.
Corban sophomore midfielder Gabrielle Nakamura registered two shots to lead the Warriors, both of which were on goal to lead the few Warrior offensive opportunities on the day where they were 4-for-6 on shots resulting in saves by Yotes' goalkeeper Alivia Brenchley, who earned a combined shutout alongside goalkeeper Hailey Jo Parks.
Coach Whyte and the Corban women's soccer program graduate 13 seniors from this year's roster and will have the opportunity to recruit in a handful of eager transfers/freshmen looking to keep their postseason streak alive and secure at least seven wins for the sixteenth-consecutive season, finishing this year with a 7-7-5 record to set a program record for most draw results in a single season.
