No. 7 LC State Cruises to Double-Digit Road Victory Over Corban Women’s Basketball

SALEM, Ore. – Hardly anything that the Corban University Women's Basketball team threw in the direction of No. 7-ranked Lewis-Clark State College impacted the nationally ranked program from running away with an 88-52 road victory in the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center, scoring at least 17 points in every quarter to hand the host Warriors a season sweep.

"I am very proud of the effort and intensity we brought tonight," Corban head coach Bill Pilgeram shared. "I felt like we competed in a game that was much closer than the final score. We were right there within ten points in the second half and as they can do, LC State was able to go on another run of their own."

Lewis-Clark State (21-2, 17-1) was able to control the opening tip and with it, the flow of the game from start to finish, staving off every scoring run that Corban (8-16, 7-11) would go on to sprint to their thirteenth-consecutive victory. LCSC absolutely dominated the turnover margin and points scored off said miscues over the Navy and Gold, scoring 48 points off 26 Corban turnovers while holding Corban netted eight points off 10 LC State offensive errors. Lewis-Clark State also scored 24 additional points in the paints over the Navy and Gold, 30-6, this afternoon.

On their home court, Corban was led offensively by senior guard Maddie Godwin and freshman guard Autumn Agnew, who each scored ten points apiece. Junior guard Gemma LaVergne added nine points with a trio of three-pointers, while freshman guard Teayona Hoard added six points and six rebounds.

LC State guard Ellie Sander completed two different halves of play this afternoon, acting as the distributor in the opening half and then the scorer down the second half stretch to finish with a game-high 18 points and eight assists. Forward Lindsey Wilson added 17 points and five rebounds, with three more LCSC student-athletes scoring at least 10 points. Guard Sitara Byrd hauled in a game-high ten boards.

Corban women's basketball will host their final two home games of the 2023-24 regular season next weekend on Tim Hills Court, with the first coming on Friday night at 5:30pm against No. 22-ranked Oregon Tech (21-3, 15-3).
