Warriors’ Playoff Hopes Hang in Balance After Regular Season Finale Loss to Yotes

CALDWELL, Idaho – After suffering an 83-59 loss earlier this evening to The College of Idaho, the Corban University Women's Basketball team will await the final result from Klamath Falls with eagerness, as a win by Oregon Tech over Walla Walla University will clinch the No. 8-overall seed in next week's Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Tournament and extend their season into the postseason for the second-straight year. The No. 8-seed will come with a trip to Southern Oregon University in Ashland, who clinched the regular season conference title with a victory over Lewis-Clark State College earlier this afternoon.

"We found a much better rhythm in the second half on both ends of the floor. The potential is there if we can capture that for a full forty minutes. What better time to do that than possibly in the CCC playoffs! We relish the opportunity to go play another game with everyone at a 0-0 record if everything pans out the way we hope it does."

Aside from a 7-2 advantage in points scored off turnovers and 38-24 in points in the paint, the Warriors (8-20, 7-15) struggled to find consistency throughout the first half of tonight's contest, eventually leading to their double-digit loss to the Yotes (10-18, 10-12). With three minutes remaining in the opening quarter, C of I took their final lead change of the afternoon in the Senior Day game, stretching their lead to as many as 22 points before settling for the 14-point victory to end the regular season for both programs.

Senior guard Maddie Godwin balled out in what could possibly be the final game of her collegiate career, as she scored a game-high 25 points by connecting on 11-of-16 field goal attempts. Freshman guard Autumn Agnew followed with 12 points and a pair of steals, while senior guard Kirsten Koehnke tallied 10 points, six rebounds, and three assists.

Yotes' guard Mia Austin tied Godwin's scoring mark with 25 points of her own, while forward Brooke Beresford logged the game's only double-double with 18 points and 11 boards. Three other C of I athletes scored at least six points and hauled in four rebounds at minimum along the way.

Coach Pilgeram, his staff and players, and all of Warrior Nation will be awaiting the final score of the OIT-Walla Walla game that will begin tonight at 7pm PT, where an Owls victory will provide the Corban women's basketball program with a postseason matchup with the reigning conference champions in Ashland.
