EUGENE, Ore. – Bushnell University was in their program's fifth year of existence the last time they emerged victorious in a matchup against the Corban University Men's Soccer team, as a fifteen-year unbeaten streak to the day came to an end at Civic Park this evening when the Beacons were able to complete a 2-0 shutout of the Warriors and see their own three-game winless streak in Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) play come to an end while preventing the Navy and Gold from keeping their own active unbeaten streak from stretching to a fourth-straight contest.
A 15th minute goal for the Beacons (9-3-2, 3-3-2) was all they needed to clinch their first victory over the Warriors (4-8-2, 2-4-2) since the CCC was an eight-school conference for men's soccer, as they most recently picked up a 2-1 winning decision against Corban on October 16th, 2010. Bushnell tacked on a 35th minute insurance goal and played out the remaining 55 minutes scoreless to clinch only their second ever shutout of the Navy and Gold.
Beacons' midfielder Giovanni Agogliati netted the game-winner on an assist from forward Caleb Premo, while forward Danny Rojas converted a penalty kick try for his seventh goal of the season to put the home team up two goals in the first half. Warriors' sophomore forward Zachary Milczarek took a game-high three shots against Bushnell goalkeeper William Haberfield, who would eventually secure the complete game shutout, while redshirt senior goalkeeper Isaac Pureco swatted a game-high three saves for Corban.
A week from tomorrow, the Warriors will play their first of two road games down the I-5 interstate, as they'll travel to Ashland for a 2:30pm kickoff against RV Southern Oregon University (9-2-1, 4-2-0).
