Frizell Welcomes Seven Warriors to Corban Women’s Basketball Program

SALEM, Ore. – The first complete recruiting class for Corban University Women's Basketball head coach Kylie Frizell has been announced days before their home and overall regular season openers next weekend, with seven newcomers ready to battle in the navy and gold jerseys this upcoming winter season. Three transfers are joined by four true freshmen in Coach Frizell's most recent class, with a Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) First Team member and NCAA DII student-athlete all joining the Warrior ranks.

"I'm really excited to be able to bring in this well-rounded recruiting class of seven with having four freshman and three transfers," detailed Coach Frizell. "They have just fit into the team so well right away and are making a positive impact to help us achieve our goals of being competitive in this conference. I'm excited to see how the additions of Jersey and Emi make immediate impacts on the court, while a lot of our freshmen, such as Izzy and Haley, are going to be great developing players who will continue to make us better as the year progresses."

To read more about the seven additions to the 2025-26 Corban women's basketball squad, see below for a brief biography assigned to each of the brand-new Warriors.

Emilia Bishop | Center | 6-2 | Graduate Student | Wilsonville, Ore. | Wilsonville HS | Seattle Pacific Univ.

Bishop brings an offensive focal point and defensive presence to the key that will boast a much-improved Warrior squad in 2025-26, as the former McDonald's All-American nominee brings an NCAA DI and DII resume with her to Corban that features stops at the University of Northern Colorado and Seattle Pacific University. Formerly a Wilsonville High School standout who was First Team All-League and Player of the Year for the 5A-1 Northwest Oregon Conference, Bishop has spent the previous three seasons as a Falcon and returns to Oregon ready to build upon her redshirt junior season where she appeared in all 30 games for SPU and recorded single-season highs across nearly every major statistical category.

Having complete her bachelor's degree at Seattle Pacific, Bishop will take advantage of Corban's robust business department as she begins her graduate studies for a master's degree in business administration.

Haley Ferry | Forward | 5-10 | Freshman | Salem, Ore. | Western Christian HS

The most recent high school graduate from the Ferry family joins her relatives as Warriors, as Haley becomes the third Ferry sibling (sister Josie, brother Alex) to lace up and play basketball for Corban University. Haley is a two-time First Team All-League award winner from Western Christian High School with a Second Team All-League and two Second Team All-State selections and was a part of both an OSAA 2A State Championship and two state runner-up finishes.

Hope Hillyer | Forward | 5-11 | Freshman | Soldotna, Alaska | Soldotna HS

A multi-sport student-athlete with awards across girls' basketball, volleyball, and track & field, Hillyer arrives in the continental United States as an All-Tournament team member, All-Conference, and All-Academic award winner and was named Tournament MVP while at Soldotna High School after averaging 9.0 points per game and 3.4 blocks per game. In addition, Hillyer place third at track & field regionals for girls' shot put.

Jersey Huerta | Guard | 5-4 | Redshirt Sophomore | Kent, Wash. | Kentwood HS | Multnomah Univ.

The Cascade Collegiate Conference's reigning Freshman of the Year has found a new home in the Mid-Willamette Valley, as Huerta brings her playmaking and scoring ability from the point guard position to a Warrior offense ready to impress the remainder of the CCC. In her record breaking year at Multnomah, Huerta a conference-best 19.4 points per game and was sixth across the conference in assist per game with just under four per contest. On her way to First Team honors, she made the ninth most three-pointers in the CCC and was the second best free throw shooter across the Pacific Northwest at 86.5% with the most attempts of any student-athlete.

Huerta will be continuing the pursuit of a degree in business administration with an emphasis on marketing as she begins her time as a Warrior.

Izzy McCauley | Guard | 5-8 | Freshman | Central Point, Ore. | Cascade Christian HS

One of many Challengers from Cascade Christian High School who would eventually choose to play out their collegiate athletic dreams as a Warrior, McCauley joins the handful of Corban student-athletes from southern Oregon who completed successful high school careers prior to signing their letter of intent for the CCC. McCauley averaged 20.0 points, six rebounds, two assists and four steals per game for Cascade Christian while shooting 35% from three and 85% from the free-throw line, earning her Southern Oregon Conference Player of the Year accolades her senior season and was a unanimous First Team All-Tournament selection at the OSAA State Tournament after setting the new record for most points scored in a 3A postseason contest (42).

During her true freshman season, McCauley will be studying business administration with an emphasis in accounting, as she has intentions of one day becoming a financial advisor.

Lucy Nyborg | Guard | 5-10 | Freshman | Hillsboro, Ore. | Southwest Christian HS

One of four Oregonians in Coach Frizell's 2025 recruiting class, Nyborg arrives on Corban's campus after a four-year girls' basketball career at Southwest Christian High School, where she averaged 15.0 points per game in her junior season and secured a Player of the Year title in the 1A-1 The Valley 10 League. She also earned a Second Team All-League honor in her sophomore year and was eventually a Second Team All-State honoree in her Player of the Year season.

Nyborg intends to take advantage of Corban's newly accredited nursing program as she competes for the Corban women's basketball team.

Elaine Rivera | Guard | 5-5 | Junior | Los Angeles, Calif. | Culver City HS | Westcliff Univ.

Transferring to Corban from fellow NAIA member Westcliff University, Rivera represents a two-way player on Coach Frizell's roster capable of scoring off the attack and rebounding defensively, as she averaged 16.0 points per game and over seven boards per game while at Culver City High School, earning First Team All-Conference and First Team All-Bay League honors alongside Team MVP and school-wide Women's Athlete of the Year. A native of Los Angeles, Rivera began her athletic career at NCAA DII Cal Poly Humboldt before spending the past year at Westcliff where she averaged just under five points per game in roughly half a season played.

Rivera will be pursuing a degree in kinesiology with dreams of one day coaching her own women's basketball program.
