RV Raiders’ High-Flying Offense Overpowers Warrior Women’s Soccer

ASHLAND, Ore. – A rejuvenated RV Southern Oregon University women's soccer squad was too much to handle offensively today for the Corban University Women's Soccer team, as the Warriors fell behind 2-0 by halftime and thanks to an impressive offensive showing from the Raiders, were unable to recover in a 7-0 road loss in Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) play.

"It's never fun to lose on the road, especially by a margin like this one," Corban head coach Brooke Alteneder shared shortly after their Friday afternoon contest. "Unfortunately, our lack of effort and attitude from the very beginning of these losses are the primary reason we find ourselves in these deep holes against very cohesive programs. Passion wins games, and we need the heart to match the hard work that we put in all week long in practice."

The receiving-voted Southern Oregon squad (10-2-1, 7-1-1-) scored within the opening 14 minutes and never looked back in their tenth win of the season and sixth shutout on the year, scoring two goals in the first half and another five in the second while holding Corban (5-9-0, 2-7-0) to just three offensive shots, two taken by sophomore forward Maya Alston and the final by sophomore forward Leah Valentine, thanks to a stalwart defensive presence by the Raiders.

Warriors' redshirt senior goalkeeper Catriona Burns secured a career-high 13 saves in today's matchup at Southern Oregon, putting forth a complete-game effort where she faced 35 total shots, 20 of which were on goal. For the Navy and Gold offense, Alston led the field with a pair of shots, while Valentine's shot on goal resulted in a Raider save.

SOU forward Brooklyn Hayes scored the opening four goals of today's contest to secure her haul performance before the 52nd minute had come to a close, while three different Raiders dished out a pair of assists and four different players scored at least one goal. Goalkeepers Issy Rutherford and Brittany Standley combined for the shutout effort, with Rutherford picking up a save.

The Warriors' final road game of the 2025 fall season will take place tomorrow at noon in Klamath Falls, as Oregon Tech (7-5-3, 3-4-2) will host a 12pm kickoff on the Lady Owls' Senior Day.
