Gladfelter Named to USTFCCCA, CCC Weekly Awards Following Record Breaking Performance

CORVALLIS, Ore./NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) office announced the McDonald's CCC Players of the Week, presented by Urban Edge Network, on Monday morning for the competitions held between September 29th to October 5th, shortly after the release of the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association's (USTFCCCA) most recent edition of their National Runners of the Week from NCAA DI down to the junior college level. Junior Jack Gladfelter found his name etched in the releases from both the CCC and USTFCCCA, having been named the CCC Men's Runner of the Week and the USTFCCCA National Men's Runner of the Week following his first cross country race of the year this past Saturday where he broke a program record on his way to a top national finish.

"Jack worked hard all summer and I'm really proud of him for earning these recognitions," Warriors' associate head coach Stuart Eagon commented earlier today. "This is a good start to the fall for him considering that we really don't start moving into race sharpening stuff until the very end of September. I'm happy with where he is at right now at the 46-day mark out from nationals. I think he has a good chance to contend for the national title this year, but more than that, I want him to continue to find joy in running; honoring God, by using the gift He has given to him.

Yet another program record had fallen at the hands, or rather feet, of Gladfelter, as Jack flew to a 23:52.7 final time in the men's 8k of the 50th annual Charles Bowles Invitational hosted this past Saturday. Hosted at Bush Park in downtown Salem by NCAA DIII Willamette University, the event featured over 300 athletes from dozens of west coast universities ranging from NCAA DI to junior colleges, where Gladfelter finish sixth overall and was the top NAIA/non-NCAA DI performer.

In addition, his final mark not only bested Warrior legend Robert Swoboda's program record in the men's 8k but is also tied for the second fastest time across the NAIA thus far in the 2025 season. The only time submitted faster than Gladfelter's was by No. 11-ranked Trinity Western University's Yemane Mulugeta, who Gladfelter finished directly in front of this past Saturday at Bush Park.

Gladfelter and the Corban cross country teams will next be in action on Saturday, October 18th at the George Oja Invitational, which will be hosted by NCAA DIII Linfield University at Oak Knoll Golf Course in Independence. This will also be the host site of the 2025 CCC Championships, providing Warrior Nation supporters an opportunity to see the Warriors take to the same course they'll be hosting the conference championship meet on in early November.
