Twait Named First CSC Academic All-American in Warrior Men’s Wrestling History

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) organization announced the 2025 Academic All-American teams for men's at-large programs across the country earlier this morning, where the Corban University Men's Wrestling program secured their first Academic All-American in the team's short history with sophomore Isaiah Twait earning a Second Team nod from the national association. Twait is one of six men's wrestlers honored this year among the numerous at-large sports and holds the second highest cumulative GPA of the group at 3.94 through two complete academic years as a Warrior.

The CSC Academic All-America program is nominated and voted on by members of the CSC, which are the Sports Information Directors/Director of Athletic Communications from every NAIA institution. Each school's nominees must have met the following criteria to be eligible for the awards: at least sophomore standing both athletically and academically and have maintained at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA through their most recently completed semester. There are numerous playing requirements within the at-large category, varying from 70% match participation (men's & women's bowling, women's beach volleyball/men's and women's wrestling/men's and women's golf) to 90% match participation or 66% starting in their most recent season of competition (men's and women's lacrosse/men's volleyball).

"We're proud of Isaiah and the season he put together both on and off the mats," began Corban head coach Nolan Harris when he learned of Twait's program-first award. "He is a real-life illustration of Proverbs 22:29, 'Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings.' This latest recognition is a testament to his commitment to developing the talents that God has blessed him with."

Since the inaugural season for Warrior men's wrestling in the 2019-20 school year, both the academic and athletic success of the program have grown exponentially in just six seasons of competition, with a new benchmark having been met by a second-year grappler from Meridian, Idaho in the form of Twait. Sporting a 3.94 cumulative GPA in a difficult STEM major of biology at Corban, Twait has transitioned from a true freshman qualifying from his first national championship tournament into an All-American for the 184-weight class after finishing sixth overall at the 2025 NAIA National Championships.

Regionally, Twait is one of two student-athletes from the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) to be named a CSC Academic All-American, joining Southern Oregon University's Evan Potter with Second Team honors to represent the CCC and NAIA men's wrestling programs across the Pacific Northwest. Twait holds the highest GPA within the CCC student-athletes honored and a top five GPA across both the First and Second Team selections in the entire NAIA class.

Twait is one of three All-Americans for the program this past season in a record-setting year for the Navy and Gold, climbing to 45 all-time match wins which currently ranks him ninth-overall in team history. His 13 career pins places him seventh within the program's six-year history, while a staggering 71.4% win percentage is top three for Warrior wrestlers. Prior to Twait's All-American run through the national tournament, he became the fifth Corban men's wrestler to clinch a CCC individual championship after going undefeated at the 2025 CCC Championships.
