Huerta Garners CCC Offensive Player of the Week Honors Following Historic Opening Weekend

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) office has announced the CCC Players of the Week for the competitions held between October 26th and October 1st, where the RV Corban University Women's Basketball team's leading scorer once again claimed the first CCC Offensive Player of the Week award of the new season. After leading the Warriors to a 1-1 start against a pair of NAIA opponents in Arizona, redshirt junior guard Jersey Huerta has claimed her third career weekly award from the CCC office.

"Jersey's ability to continue to perform at such a high level is so impressive and was exactly what we needed this weekend to kick off our season," shared Corban head coach Kylie Frizell when she learned of her starting point guard's most recent individual achievement. "Having her as our on-court leader commanding our offense allows us to play our up-tempo style of attack for a relentless 40 minutes every single night."

The weekly honor comes on the heels of a remarkable opening weekend for Huerta, who averaged 34.0 points per game while helping the Warriors earn their first victory of the 2026-27 season. The accolade marks the first conference player of the week recognition for Corban Women's Basketball this season in their first possible occasion.

Huerta opened the campaign with 28 points, six rebounds, five assists, five steals, and two blocks in Corban's season opener against Benedictine University Mesa on Oct. 31 before delivering one of the most prolific offensive performances in program history the following afternoon.

In an 89-74 victory over Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Huerta erupted for 40 points on 14-of-24 shooting from the field, finishing just one point shy of the Corban single-game scoring record of 41 points established by Jordan Woodvine during the 2019 season. She also added four rebounds and helped fuel a decisive fourth-quarter run that secured the Warriors' first win of the year.

Across the two contests, Huerta shot 47.9% from the floor, connected on seven three-pointers, and converted 15-of-17 free-throw attempts while averaging 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 3.0 steals per game. Through the opening two weekends of play across the country, Huerta is the leading scorer across all NAIA programs at 34.0 points per game, leading Taylor University's Kaycie Warfel by a full point per game and powering Corban to 80.1 points per game, good for 16th in the NAIA.

Huerta and the Warriors will return to action this weekend when they host the annual Corban Classic on Tim Hills Court. Corban will welcome Simpson University and NCAA DIII Lewis & Clark College to Salem for the two-day event as opponents, while Bushnell University will play in neutral site contests against the River Otters and Red Hawks on Friday and Saturday, respectively. Huerta and the Dubs will take the court at 5:30pm on Friday against Simpson.
