Champion Caliber Gameplay Nets Corban Women’s Basketball CCC Team of the Week Award

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) office has announced the UnderArmour Team of the Week for competitions held between February 9th to 15th, where the RV Corban University Women's Basketball team claimed their first weekly honor of the year after the penultimate weekend of regular season action where they picked up crucial victories on their home court during their Senior Weekend festivities that further improved their odds of clinching at least a share of the first CCC regular season championship in a 15-year span.

"This team recognition feels like the cherry on top of a really great weekend in recognizing just how special this team is," Warriors' head coach Kylie Frizell shared shortly after learning of her program's first Team of the Week honor under her guidance. "I just can't say enough about how much I love coaching this team. Not only do they come in every day ready to compete and get better on the court, but they're just such fun people to be around. It brings me great joy that our fan base, friends, and families are able to see this team play with the genuine care and love they have for each other. This recognition by the conference is a reflection of every single person that's a part of this team up and down the roster. This is a true team award, and I'm so proud of every single individual for what they've accomplished so far this season."

A perfect 2-0 weekend on their home court clinched the Warriors (21-5, 14-4) their first weekly team award from the CCC this calendar year following a season sweep of RV College of Idaho and massive Senior Day upset over No. 14-ranked Eastern Oregon University. Entering the weekend a game back of the Mounties and tied with the Yotes in the conference standings, the Dubs knew they needed a weekend sweep if they wanted to keep their regular season championship dreams alive.

Just as they did in their initial meeting back in January, the Navy and Gold jumped out to a near double-digit halftime lead against C of I and using a lockdown defensive third period, kept the Yotes at bay for the remainder of their Friday night matchup. The following afternoon, the Warriors avenged their three-point road loss to the Mountaineers with a six-point home win, as they forced a five-way tie atop the CCC standings after completing a come-from-behind second half effort and earn a season split with EOU for a second-straight season.

Redshirt junior guard Jenna Albrecht secured the game-high scoring marks against both C of I and Eastern Oregon, as she was a combined 14-for-19 from the field while averaging six rebounds per game along the way. Redshirt sophomore guard Jersey Huerta added 31 points and 13 rebounds across both contests as she continues her late season push for CCC Player of the Year contention.

Next Friday, the Navy and Gold will clash with No. 12-ranked Lewis-Clark State College (20-6, 14-4) at the P1FCU Activity Center in Lewiston, as the victor will emerge with incredible odds of guaranteeing at least a share of the 2026 regular season title, and with it, an automatic berth to the NAIA National Tournament next month and home court advantage throughout the 2026 CCC Tournament that is set to begin on February 27th.
