Opening Weekend Ranked Victories Retains Corban Beach Volleyball’s Top Two Placement

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the first of five 2026 Beach Volleyball Top 10 Coaches' regular season polls earlier this morning, where the Corban University Beach Volleyball squad retained their top two overall national position following a pair of nationally ranked wins across their opening weekend of the competitive spring season.

"The second overall ranking after the first set of competitions is still a bit premature, but we appreciate the respect nonetheless," explained Corban head coach Dan Stephens. "This group of sandy Warriors is hungry to improve, and we still need to adjust as we move forward to be able to stay at a high ranking. This weekend will be another big test as we face DI and DII team, which will stress test some of our adjustments we make throughout the matches. We hope to have a better idea of our lineup as we go into next week's start of conference matches."

The 27th consecutive national poll appearance for the Navy and Gold comes just days after completing their opening weekend of the regular season down the west coast in southern California, where they experienced a 3-2 opener loss to now No. 3-ranked The Master's University before regrouping and dealing out three-straight losses to opponents, including a 4-1 revenge victory over the Mustangs. In addition to splitting with No. 3-ranked TMU, the Warriors completed a 5-0 sweep over NCAA DII California State University Los Angeles, followed by a reverse sweep of now No. 7-ranked Hope International University, handing both the Mustangs and Royals their first losses of the year.

The No. 1-overall pairing of senior Emmi Marks and junior Emma Bischoff handled their business in sweeping fashion across all four matches, refusing to drop a single set a they completed a 4-0 run through southern California. No. 5-pairing of junior Stacie Alexander and redshirt freshman Katie Fraley also finished 4-0 for the Warriors, needing a third set to clinch victories in their first three matchups of the weekend but securing crucial wins in each dual nonetheless. Finally, the No. 3-pairing of senior Alexis Adebodun and junior Cammie Masanda shook off a season-opener loss to their TMU opponents with three-straight match wins to conclude their weekend in Santa Clarita.

Corban beach volleyball will kick off a seven-dual homestand this upcoming Friday at 9am, as they host the opening matchup of the 2026 Corban Invitational against the NCAA DI University of Portland Pilots (0-0).
