ASHLAND, Ore. – While the sun shined down in the Willamette Valley throughout the first day of the 2026 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Tournament, the southern Oregon weather had the last laugh as the first day of competition was cut short due to lightning strikes near the campus of Southern Oregon University. The No. 3-ranked Corban University Beach Volleyball team opened their tourney with a back-and-forth 3-1 decision against RV The College of Idaho to advance within the winner's half of the bracket, yet will have to wait one more night to get their rematch with the No. 2-ranked and top-seeded Raiders after the inclement weather ruined an otherwise productive day in the sand for the Navy and Gold.
"We had a close battle today with C of I and we were able to make the adjustments we needed to push through," explained Corban head coach Dan Stephens. "Looks like we will have to stay flexible with weather conditions and just be ready to play when we're called on tomorrow."
While the Yotes (7-10) were able to snag an upset in the twos, in three sets, the Warriors (21-5) earned a hard-fought three-set win in the fours thanks to a reverse sweep by redshirt junior Erin Scott and freshman Emily Blagg to even the field at one pair apiece. The Dubs closed out the CCC tourney opener with a straight-set sweep at the fives by junior Jordan Faircloth and sophomore Rebecca Wilber alongside a three-set win by the ones comprising of senior Emmi Marks and junior Emma Bischoff.
Marks and Bischoff advanced to 24-2 on the season with the victory today, while senior Alexis Adebodun and junior Cammie Masanda of the third flight had their match suspended after Marks and Bischoff's win secured the match result, which is typical protocol in postseason duals. Adebodun and Masanda were mounting a reverse sweep of their own, leading 7-3 in the third set when their match was suspended.

The winner will automatically earn a spot in the CCC Championship dual, while the loser will battle in an elimination match against Bushnell University at 11am.
