Corban baseball head coach Ryan Harris shared, "Fantastic work by these men! I'm incredibly proud of their efforts in the classroom. Maintaining a minimum 3.50 GPA and being able to compete week after week is pursing excellence in everything you do. I'm looking forward to continuing to grow our list of CSC academic award winners."
The CSC Academic All-America program is nominated and voted on by members of the CSC, which are the Sports Information Directors/Director of Athletic Communications from every NAIA institution. Each school's nominees must have met the following criteria to be eligible for the awards: at least sophomore standing both athletically and academically and have maintained at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA through their most recently completed semester. For collegiate baseball specifically, student-athletes must have competed in at least 90% of all contests OR started in 66% of all games for the 2026 spring season, with pitchers also having the ability to qualify by tossing at least 35.0 innings or making 17 appearances in the circle.
Five Warriors were selected to the dual athletic/academic award today by the CSC, including three back-to-back award winners who were honored following the 2025 season. Senior shortstop Isaac Bateman, senior centerfield Chase Elliott, and junior outfielder Lucas Mertlich were all tabbed for the award in second-straight seasons of competition, while graduate student right-handed pitcher Eddie Gould and sophomore right-handed pitcher Brady Sprague both earned their first Academic All-District honors following breakthrough seasons on the diamond for the Corban baseball program.
An NAIA-based selection committee consisting of members from the athletic communication departments across the country will now determine which of the All-District recipients will receive Academic All-American honors. Nominees will all be grouped together based on primary positions played across the diamond for the scholarly All-American status with both athletic and academic success taken into consideration.
