Warrior Women Complete Season Opener in Bushnell Dual

MCKENZIE BRIDGE, Ore. – The Corban University Women's Golf team concluded its first appearance of the 2026-27 campaign on Saturday, closing out the Bushnell Fall Dual at Tokatee Golf Club. The Warriors finished second in the two-team event with a 36-hole score of 190-over-par after posting a team round of 96-over on Saturday. Bushnell University claimed the team title at 77-over-par overall.

"Our ladies were playing better today, but we got tripped up on the back nine and ended up finishing just about the same as yesterday," said head coach Charlie Marshall. "There were definitely signs of improvement throughout the round, and that's encouraging to see. As we continue to gain experience and clean up some mistakes, I think we'll see those improvements start to show up more consistently on their scorecards."

After opening the tournament at 94-over-par on Friday, the Warriors recorded a nearly identical team total in the final round to secure second place in the season-opening dual. Junior Ashlyn Thomas paced the Corban lineup once again, carding a 14-over-par round of 86 on Saturday to finish seventh overall at 30-over for the tournament. Junior Madelyn Moore placed eighth at 39-over-par following a final-round 93, while freshman Amanda Ramirez finished ninth overall at 51-over-par after shooting a 99 in the closing round. Junior Kaylee Umbright rounded out the Warrior scoring contingent in 11th place at 70-over-par.

In the individual standings, Thomas' seventh-place finish led Corban and moved her within six strokes of the tournament's top five. Moore secured a top eight result in her first event of the season, while Ramirez posted the first rounds of her collegiate career. Umbright completed the weekend with back-to-back rounds that contributed to the Warriors' team score as Corban gained valuable competitive experience to begin the fall slate. Jaylee Hix of Bushnell University earned medalist honors at 10-over-par, edging teammate Hailey Smith by 13 strokes.

The Warriors will return to action on September 7th and 8th when they travel to Klamath Falls for the Oregon Tech Fall Invite at Running Y Ranch Resort, their first Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) event of the season.
