Warriors Open Bearcat Invitational in Fourth Place

SALEM, Ore. – The Corban University Women's Golf team opened play at the 2026 Bearcat Invitational on Saturday, battling a strong field of Northwest opponents at Salem Golf Club in NCAA DIII Willamette University's hosted tourney. The Warriors closed the opening round in fourth place overall with a team score of 361 (+73) and will look to make a move up the leaderboard in Sunday's final round.

"The ladies had a pretty decent day in spite of slow greens that caused inflated scores," shared Warriors' head coach Charlie Marshall. "Overall, they all played pretty well led by a strong performance by Maddy and consistent play by Amanda. Kaylee made great improvements on her back nine by seven strokes, while Ashlyn did a great job scrambling. We're looking to have a better day tomorrow, hoping to move up the ladder against these programs."

Corban enters the tournament finale fourth in the team standings, trailing Whitworth University (+24), Pacific University (+40), and Linfield University (+45). The Navy and Gold hold an advantage over host Willamette University (+103) and Centralia College (+112) after the opening 18 holes.

Junior Madelyn Moore paced the Warriors on day one, firing an 84 (+12) to sit tied for 14th overall. Freshman Amanda Ramirez followed in 24th place with an 88 (+16), while junior Ashlyn Thomas carded an 91 (+21) to finish the day 28th on the individual leaderboard. Junior Kaylee Umbright rounded out the Corban scoring contingent with a 98 (+28), placing 34th heading into the final round.

Atop the individual standings, Ashley Maki of Whitworth leads the tournament at 74 (+2). Ashlyn Yorimoto of Linfield and Naomi Molitor, competing as an individual for Whitworth, are tied for second at 76 (+4), while Stella Fergin and Lily Knight of Whitworth share fourth place at 78 (+6).

The Warriors will return to Salem Golf Club tomorrow morning seeking to climb the team leaderboard and finish their home tournament on a high note.
