Corban Women’s Cross Country Opens Season with Sixth-Place Finish at Linfield Harrier Classic

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – The Corban University Women's Cross Country team opened its 2026 campaign on Friday morning at the Linfield Harrier Classic, turning in a strong sixth-place finish against a competitive field that featured NCAA DI, NCAA DIII, NAIA, and junior college programs. The Warriors totaled 206 points in the 4,000-meter race at Joe Dancer Park, showcasing both depth and promising early-season performances to begin the fall season.

"I was pleased with what I saw today, it was really encouraging to see that we have a freshman in Adelynne who has already made substantial gains and improvements from even this past spring," began Corban head coach Stuart Eagon. "The same is true with Amelia, as she also has made substantial improvements. Carrie is still rounding into shape and I know she's go toing run a lot better. Addie just had a rough day today, and Josie is returning to form, just some sickness that she's been experiencing and she has a long ways to go. Eliza, Alannah, Emalie, and Johnna all ran great. I think they're all going to run huge personal bests in the coming meets, so overall I'm really pleased with the trajectory that our women's team is on, and I think they will be pretty solid once we have Josie back to 100%."

In the team standings, NCAA DI Oregon State University claimed the event title with 15 points, followed by No. 4-ranked The College of Idaho (59), NCAA DI University of Portland (75), Southwestern Oregon Community College (143), and NCAA DIII George Fox University (158). Corban's sixth-place total of 206 points placed the Warriors ahead of Treasure Valley Community College, Lane Community College, NCAA DIII Pacific University, Bushnell University, NCAA DIII Linfield University, The Evergreen State College, and Pierce College in a field loaded with regional competition.

The individual race was dominated by OSU, which swept the top five positions. Sage Brooks captured the individual championship in a time of 13:22.6, narrowly ahead of teammates Ainsley Herron (13:22.6), Noemi Lundgren (13:22.7), Maya Baechler (13:27.9), and Ruby Broadbent (13:29.9).

Corban was paced by freshman Adelynne Rispler, who delivered an impressive collegiate debut by finishing 44th overall in 15:16.6. Junior Carrie Babcock followed close behind in 53rd place with a time of 15:27.4, while sophomore Amelia Anstrand placed 67th overall after crossing the finish line in 15:49.3. Sophomore Adaline McDowell posted a time of 16:16.7 to finish 84th, and junior Emalie Lindberg rounded out the Warriors' scoring five in 96th place with a mark of 16:30.2.

Additional Corban finishers included freshman Alannah Woizeschke, who placed 110th in 17:01.7, junior Josephine Rothman in 123rd at 17:33.6, senior Johnna Cooley in 124th at 17:34.0, junior Madyson Combs in 127th at 17:47.9, and freshman Eliza Fraley in 132nd with a time of 18:05.0. The Warriors' youthful lineup gained valuable race experience while helping Corban secure a top-half finish in the season opener.

Friday's performance provided an encouraging start for a Corban squad featuring a blend of veteran leadership and emerging young talent. With several runners producing strong season-opening efforts against a challenging field, the Warriors demonstrated the depth and potential that will be key as the season progresses.

Corban will return to competition on September 11th at the Ash Creek Collegiate in Monmouth, Oregon, continuing its early-season preparations as the Warriors build toward championship aspirations
