Laro, Harvey Pace Warriors in Final Round of Oregon Tech Fall Invitational

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Facing a field loaded with conference contenders and nationally ranked programs, the Corban University Men's Golf team wrapped up its season-opening tournament Tuesday at the Oregon Tech Fall Invitational. The Warriors finished eighth overall with a 54-hole score of 898 (+34) after rounds of 294, 298, and 306 at Running Y Ranch Resort.

"We didn't get out of the gate quick enough today, kind of a continuation of round two from yesterday," explained Warriors' head coach Charlie Marshall. "I'm proud of the guys for digging in as much as they could. Casyn had a good round today and David tried to rally the troops with five birdies in a row. A few things to work on as we enter a few weeks of rest for our top bags in practice, and we'll get it done."

Corban entered the final round in seventh place before settling into eighth in the final standings. No. 15-ranked University of British Columbia captured the team championship at 831 (-33), setting a new Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) 54-hole record in the process while No. 20-ranked Lewis-Clark State College finished runner-up at 835 (-29). Bushnell University, Oregon Tech, and The College of Idaho rounded out the tournament's top five. The Warriors ended the event just three shots behind Simpson University and five strokes back of Southern Oregon University, underscoring how tightly packed the middle of the leaderboard remained throughout the tournament.

The duo of senior David Harvey and sophomore Isaac Laro led the charge for the Navy and Gold, each posting a three-round total of 225 (+9) to tie for 29th overall. Harvey recorded consistent rounds of 74, 76, and 75, while Laro highlighted his tournament with an even-par 72 in Monday's second round. Freshman Rane Divers finished tied for 32nd at 227 (+11) after opening the event with a team-best 69 (-3), while senior Owen Heath added a tie for 36th at 230 (+14). Freshman Casyn Simmons closed his tournament on a high note with a final-round 74 (+2), the Warriors' low score of the day, to finish tied for 39th overall at 231 (+15). Competing as an individual, freshman Colby Lerten placed tied for 56th with a 239 (+23).

At the top of the individual leaderboard, British Columbia's Jake Houston separated himself from the field with a tournament-winning score of 201 (-15). LC State's Lucas Ortega finished second at 204 (-12), followed by teammate Andrea Artusini in third at 206 (-10). UBC's Manpreet Lalh and Leighton Wright rounded out the top five at 207 (-9) and 210 (-6), respectively.

The Warriors' reserve squad will have an opportunity to flash their irons this upcoming Monday and Tuesday in Portland, as they'll compete in the Tournaement of Knights at Glendoveer Golf Course, hosted by Warner Pacific University.
