Harvey Leads Corban to Second-Place Finish at Tall Timber Invitational

BLUE RIVER, Ore. – The Corban University men's golf team finished second at the Tall Timber Invitational on Tuesday, closing out the tournament at 31-over-par. The Warriors finished 12 strokes behind Bushnell University's A-squad, which shot an even-par round on the final day at Tokatee Golf Club to claim the team title. Senior David Harvey led Corban individually with a tie for fourth place, while senior Owen Heath finished in the top 10.

"We got off to a slow start today and gave it our all to battle it out with Bushnell, but, as we were making bogeys, they were making some birdies and lots of pars to shoot even for the day. Not much one can do when the other team is shooting lights out," said head coach Charlie Marshall.

Corban opened the tournament Monday at Eugene Country Club with a team score of 16-over-par, placing the Warriors in first heading into the final round. Harvey led the team after day one at 1-over-par, while Heath and freshman Casyn Simmons each finished the opening round at 4-over-par. Isaac Laro carded a 7-over-par round, and Brendan Barbeau finished at 10-over-par.

The Warriors returned to competition Tuesday at Tokatee Golf Club in Blue River, Oregon, a par-72 course measuring 6,806 yards. Corban posted a team score of 15-over-par in the final round, bringing its two-round total to 31-over-par. Bushnell's A squad separated itself from the field by shooting even par on Tuesday, finishing at 19-over-par overall and 12 strokes ahead of the Warriors after trailing Corban following round one by three strokes.

Harvey finished as Corban's top golfer, tying for fourth at 6-over-par after rounds of 1-over-par and 5-over-par. Heath finished tied for 10th at 8-over-par, while Barbeau tied for 13th at 10-over-par after shooting even par in the final round. Simmons finished tied for 17th at 12-over-par, and Laro tied for 19th at 13-over-par.

Head coach Charlie Marshall highlighted Barbeau's even-par final round, Harvey's top five finish, and Heath's top ten finish as individual highlights from the tournament. Competing as individuals, redshirt freshman Cavan Visser finished tied for 40th at 23-over-par, freshman Rane Divers placed 43rd at 24-over-par, and freshman Colby Lerten finished 48th at 30-over-par.

Bushnell's A team won the team competition at 19-over-par, followed by Corban at 31-over-par and Bushnell's B squad at 39-over-par. Southern Oregon's A team finished fourth at 42-over-par, while College of Idaho placed fifth at 54-over-par. Simpson University, Southern Oregon B, and Walla Walla University rounded out the team standings.

The Warriors will return to competition at the OUAZ Fall Invitational on October 26th and 27th at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Washington, as they look to build on their performance at the Tall Timber Invitational.
