IRVINE VALLEY: Attended Irvine Valley Community College for one year, but did not play volleyball for the Lasers.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated with honors in 2010 from Whittier Christian High School … Played volleyball (4 years), softball (2 years), and basketball (1 year) … Helped lead Whittier Christian to CIF title as a senior in 2009 … Earned all-league and all-area honors during prep career … Named team captain … Led league in blocks, kills, and service aces … Earned Coaches' Award and team MVP honors … Named to all-tournament team once … Played club for Quest Volleyball Club and was named team captain.

PERSONAL: Born in Anaheim, Calif. to Darryl and Tamara Shafer … Is 1 of 2 children … Has 1 brother (Darryl, Jr.) … Enjoys baking, cooking, going to the movies, hiking, and anything outdoors … Major: Social Studies Education … Would like to become a high school teacher following graduation.
