Steigleman Leads Warriors Against Knights

LEWISTON, Idaho – In its final game at the season-opening Staples Classic, Corban's women's basketball team fell to fellow Cascade Collegiate Conference member Warner Pacific, 66-51, despite a game-high 22 points by sophomore Katie Steigleman (Eugene, Ore.) Saturday afternoon at Lewiston High School.

After the opening weekend of regular season play, Corban is 0-2 and Warner Pacific moves to 1-1.

Following a career-low six points last night against nationally-ranked and classic host Lewis-Clark State, Steigleman rebounded with an 8-for-17 performance from the field that included a perfect 2-for-2 shooting from three-point range to go along with a 4-for-5 showing at the free throw line. The second-year Warrior also added a game-high six steals and four rebounds.

Steigleman was aided scoring-wise by junior Jennesa Miller (Mica, Wash.), who added 10 points and a team-high tying six rebounds. No other Warrior scored in double figures, as junior Kayla Shaughnessy (Camano Island, Wash.) came off the bench to provide seven points and a team-high tying two assists.

Warner Pacific was led in scoring by Kristina Schumacher, who tallied 20 points on 9-for-18 shooting from the field. Meanwhile, Kelsey Mattsen and Marissa Towry added 13 and 10 points respectively to go along with Cameryn Calhoun's seven-point, seven-assist performance.

The Warriors shot 21-for-65 (32.3%) from the field, while Warner Pacific was 30-for-75 (40.0%) for the game. From three-point range, Corban was 2-for-9 (22.2%) and the Knights were 2-for-11 (18.2%). At the free throw line, the Warriors were 7-for-13 (53.8%) versus Warner Pacific's 4-for-5 (80.0%) showing.

Corban will return to the floor on Tuesday, November 17th, against the defending NCAA Division III national champions and No. 4-ranked Bruins of George Fox in the Warriors' home opener scheduled for 7:30 p.m. inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
