LEWISTON, Idaho – In four games at the Regence BlueShield of Idaho Tournament, Corban's baseball team picked up a pair of wins against fellow Cascade Collegiate Conference teams surrounded by two losses to tournament-host Lewis-Clark State that included a 6-0 setback in the championship game at Harris Field on Sunday.
Over the three-day tournament, sophomore

Following this weekend's results, Corban is now 4-3 overall as the Warriors will now embark on a nine-day lay off before stepping back onto the diamond against NCAA Division III member George Fox on Tuesday, February 23rd, beginning at 2:00 p.m. in Newberg.
LEWIS-CLARK STATE 18, CORBAN 1
In Friday's opener against tournament-host and the NAIA's No. 6-ranked Lewis-Clark State, Corban registered a combined five hits that included a run-scoring sacrifice fly by junior
Luke Balbas (Boise, Idaho) in the top of the fifth inning for the Warriors' lone run of the game.
The host Warriors of Lewis-Clark State scored the game's opening seven runs before plating another combined 10 runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings. LCSC's Josh Ashenbrenner belted a three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning before Brian Burke registered two home runs via a grand slam in the seventh and another three-run home run in the eighth inning.
Corban junior
Trevor Winsor (Troutdale, Ore.) started the game and went the opening 5.0 innings allowing eight runs (six earned) on nine hits before turning the ball over to a trio of Warrior relievers. Junior
Kyle Lamson (Medford, Ore.), sophomore
Mike McKay (Almira, Wash.), and freshman
David Hull (Kelso, Wash.) combined to pitch the final 4.0 innings as the trio allowed 10 runs (nine earned) on nine hits.
CORBAN 6, CONCORDIA 5
In Friday's finale, Corban grabbed a 6-4 lead after the third inning before holding on for a one-run victory (6-5) against conference rival Concordia. Senior
Josh Warner (Independence, Ore.) drove home the eventual game-winning run with a double that scored Winsor, while junior
Nate Hiebert (Lebanon, Ore.) pitched a scoreless ninth inning en route to registering his first career save.
After both teams scored two runs in the first inning, Corban put four unanswered runs on the board that included three in the second and a single run in the third. In the second inning, freshman
Kyle Kunkel (Bremerton, Wash.) led off with a double before scoring on a failed pick off attempt. One batter later, freshman
Kris Bos (Jerome, Idaho) singled home senior
Mitch Riddle (Pullman, Wash.) before Ramirez brought home the Warriors' third run of the inning with a single that scored Warner.
Corban's third inning began with a single by Winsor before he advanced to third on back-to-back Warrior ground outs. With two outs, Warner doubled to bring home Winsor giving Corban a 6-2 lead.
Concordia would come back with two runs in the bottom of the third inning before plating its fifth and final run of the afternoon in the seventh inning on a single by Andrew Duke that scored Ryan Kolstad.
In the ninth inning, Hiebert relieved sophomore
Quinn Macnab (The Dalles, Ore.) and despite allowing a one-out single did not allow a Cavalier runner past second base in helping Corban secure its third win of the season.
CORBAN 7, COLLEGE OF IDAHO 3
In Saturday's lone game, Ramirez and Candelaria combined to go 7-for-9 at the plate with four runs batted in and five runs scored. Sophomore
Steven Blum (Salem, Ore.) also went 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles and three runs batted in, while Candelaria belted two home runs in consecutive plate appearances in the fifth and seventh innings respectively.
Corban scored two runs in the third inning, one in the fifth, two in the seventh, and two more in the eighth, while The College of Idaho added single runs in each the seventh, eighth, and ninth inning.
Freshman
Jacob Kopra (Gresham, Ore.) went the opening 6.1 innings for the Warriors allowing one earned run on four hits to go along with a game-high tying three strikeouts. Sophomore
Tyler Doornink (Yakima, Wash.) and Hiebert pitched the final two innings, as Doornink went 1.2 innings before Hiebert pitched another scoreless ninth inning in helping Corban advance to the championship game.
LEWIS-CLARK STATE 6, CORBAN 0
In Sunday's championship game, Corban could only get four hits (all singles) off the bats of Warner, junior
Kyle Taylor (Clackamas, Ore.), Winsor, and Hiebert as the Warriors fell to tournament-host and nationally-ranked Lewis-Clark State for the second time this weekend.
With a slim one-run Lewis-Clark State lead in the sixth inning, the game was delayed for 71 minutes due to heavy rain. After the field was covered with a tarp and protected for more than one hour, Corban's coaching staff convinced the umpires to continue the game.
Unfortunately for the visiting Warriors, a five-run seventh inning by L-C State that included a three-run home run down the left field line by Ashenbrenner sealed the six-run win for the home team.
Freshman
Craig Baker (Meridian, Idaho) went the opening 6.0 innings for the Warriors allowing a mere one earned run on four hits before turning the ball over to Macnab and junior
Chris Trammell (Salem, Ore.) following the rain delay.
