BOX SCORE

LEWISTON, Idaho – Senior Nate Hiebert (Lebanon, Ore.) went a combined 3-for-5 at the plate, as Corban's baseball team dropped the finale of the Red Lion Tournament to the NAIA's No. 4-ranked Lewis-Clark State, 13-2, Sunday at Harris Field.

Eight other Warriors – senior Tyler Lake (Medford, Ore.), junior David Hull (Kelso, Wash.), junior Nick Stiltner (Eugene, Ore.), sophomore Matt Hamlin (Hamilton, Mt.), sophomore Andy Hill (Eugene, Ore.), sophomore Kyle Kunkel (Bremerton, Wash.), freshman Sage Poland (Spokane, Wash.), and freshman Joshua Walker (Oregon City, Ore.) – collected a hit each, while senior Aarason Perry (Susanville, Calif.) drove in Corban's lone run via an RBI ground out in the top of the fourth inning.

On the mound, junior Tyler Doornink (Yakima, Wash.) went the opening 2.0 innings allowing six earned runs on seven hits before turning the ball over to a quintet of relievers – senior Steven Candelaria (Farmington, N.M.), sophomore Caleb Virtue (Vancouver, Wash.), junior Mike McKay (Almira, Wash.), junior Luke Loberg (Sublimity, Ore.), and sophomore Kris Bos (Jerome, Idaho) – for the final seven innings allowing a combined seven runs (six earned) on six hits.

Lewis-Clark State would put six runs on the board over the opening two innings before Corban scored its only runs in the top of the fourth inning thanks to a throwing error that allowed Stiltner to score before Perry drove home junior Colby Sokol for the Warriors' final run.

The nationally-ranked home team would tack on four more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning before putting three more runs on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning for the final score of 13-2.

L-C State's Braxton Miller went a perfect 3-for-3 with a pair of home runs and eight RBI for the host Warriors, while Brian Gaylord drove in two runs thanks to a 2-for-3 performance. Pitching-wise, Zach Hull earned the win going the opening 4.0 innings allowing two unearned runs on two hits before a trio of relievers – Zach Clanton, Paul Anaya, and Alex Murrieta – closed out the final five innings.

With today's result, Corban falls to 0-4 and Lewis-Clark State improves to a perfect 5-0 on its young season. The Warriors will return to the field on Friday, February 18th, in the opener of the Cascade-Northwest Challenge against George Fox beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Wilsonville High School in Wilsonville, Oregon.
