KEIZER, Ore. – Despite a perfect 2-for-2 performance with a pair of RBI by junior
Steven Blum (Salem, Ore.), Corban's baseball team fell for the second time this season to NCAA Division III member George Fox, 10-2, Wednesday at nearby Volcanoes Stadium.
Along with Blum, junior

Corban would grab an early one-run lead in the top of the first inning when Foster ripped a one-out single to left field before advancing to second on a Bruin throwing error before coming home on a Blum double to left field giving the visiting Warriors the early advantage.
George Fox would come back with a two-spot in the bottom of the second inning on a two-run single to right field by Derek Blankenship that allowed Nate Hickok and Zac Israel to score giving the host Bruins a one-run lead (2-1) after two innings of play.
In the top of the fifth inning, Corban got a lead off single by Hiebert before Taylor placed runners at the corners with a single through the right side with one out. Blum would then step to the plate and drove home his second RBI of the game when he lifted a sacrifice fly into right field that brought Hiebert home to tie the score at 2-2.
Over the next four innings, George Fox would put eight runs on the board beginning in the bottom of the fifth inning when Israel drove in the eventual game-winning run with a two-run double to left center field that scored Eric Gantenbein and Derek Aldrich. The Bruins would cap the game's scoring in the bottom of the eighth inning when Todd Nagamine scored on a double play ground out by John Mountz that made the final score 10-2 in George Fox's favor.
Gantenbein would lead the Bruins' offense with a 4-for-5 showing that included a pair of RBI, while Israel and Blankenship collected three hits each. GFU's Brian Davis went the opening 3.0 innings allowing one unearned run on four hits before turning the ball over to Andrew Snyder, who picked up his third win of the season via 2.0 innings of relief allowing one earned run on three hits. Brian Ranta and Jacob Brown would also see action on the mound for the Bruins, as Ranta pitched a perfect sixth inning before Brown closed out the game for George Fox with 3.0 innings of shut out ball en route to picking up his third save of the season.
With today's result, Corban falls to 9-27 overall and George Fox improves to 21-8. The Warriors will be back in action tomorrow – Thursday, April 14th – with an afternoon double header against NCAA Division II member Central Washington starting at noon at Volcanoes Stadium in Keizer.
