BOX SCORE
PASCO, Wash. – The duo of freshman
Marc Gallegos and sophomore
Ryan Rodriguez helped lead Corban's baseball team to its third win in three days at the Swing Into Spring College Baseball Classic thanks to a 12-11 victory over NCAA Division III member Lewis & Clark Sunday at Gesa Stadium.
With today's victory, Corban remains unbeaten so far this season at 3-0 and Lewis & Clark is without a win at 0-4.
Rodriguez picked up his first collegiate victory to go along with a pair of saves in three games this weekend, while Gallegos drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning via a single through the left side with the bases loaded.
Gallegos also went 4-for-6 at the plate with three runs batted in, while sophomores Daxton Deal and
Kris Gokey each collected two hits in the win. Senior
Anthony Wirkkala went the opening 2.0 innings allowing seven runs (six earned) on five hits before turning the ball over to a trio of Warrior relievers – junior
Caleb Virtue, freshman
Jordan Johansen, and Rodriguez – that combined to allow four runs (three earned) on six hits over the final seven innings.
Lewis & Clark would begin the game by plating four runs in the top of the first inning, as Michael Ball ripped a two-run single into center field before Mike Kinkenon drove in Ball three batters later on a fielder's choice. Corey Davis would round out the Pioneers' scoring in the first inning when he came home on an error by Corban's catcher to make the score 4-0 in favor of LCC.
Corban wasted no time in answering the Pioneers' four-run first inning, as the Warriors plated seven runs in the bottom of the first inning with the highlight coming off of the bat of Gallegos via a two-run double to right field. In the inning, Corban would send 11 batters to the plate with runs being scored by Gallegos, senior
Colby Sokol, freshman
Peter Martin, senior

Gregg Romero, and Gokey.
In the top of the second inning, Lewis & Clark would put three more runs on the board to tie the game at 7-7 with Nick Lavin bringing home the game-tying run on a two-out sacrifice fly to right field that scored Geoff Wertz.
After a combined three at-bats without anyone scoring, Lewis & Clark added another run in the top of the fourth inning when Lavin ripped a single to left field that brought home Ball to make the score 8-7 in favor of the Pioneers.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Corban would tie the score once again (8-8) when Romero registered a one-out single to center field before coming around to score one batter later on an error by Lewis & Clark's third baseman.
Corban would take its second lead of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning when Gokey singled up the middle to bring home a pair of Warriors – Deal and junior
Andy Hill – to make the score 10-8 in favor of the Warriors.
In the top of the eighth inning, Lewis & Clark would get a pair of sacrifice flies off the bats of Wertz and Ball that would tie the score once again at 10-10.
Corban would quickly regain the lead (11-10) in the bottom of the eighth inning, as senior
Steven Blum roped a triple to center field that scored Gallegos following his leadoff single to short.
In the top of the ninth inning with one last chance to either tie or take the lead, Lewis & Clark got a RBI double to right field off the bat of Kinkenon that knotted the game for the final time at 11-11.
After Deal reached base to led off the bottom of the ninth via an error by Lewis & Clark's center fielder, Gokey and Romero were intentionally walked to load the bases. With runners on all three bases, Gallegos wasted no time in ending the game with his walk-off single through the left side that brought home Deal and ended the game in heroic fashion (12-11).
Ball led Lewis & Clark's offense with a two-hit performance to go along with a game-high four RBI, while also going the opening 6.2 innings on the mound allowing 10 runs (eight earned) on eight hits before turning the ball over to Kyle Tibbett for the final 1.2 innings.
