BOX SCORE

LA GRANDE, Ore. – In its first Cascade Collegiate Conference road match this year, Corban's women's volleyball team fell to the NAIA's No. 19-ranked Eastern Oregon in four sets (17-25, 18-25, 25-19, 15-25) Friday inside Quinn Coliseum.

With tonight's loss, Corban falls to 2-7 overall and 0-3 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. Meanwhile, nationally-ranked Eastern Oregon improves to 9-2 overall and remains perfect in league matches at 3-0.

Senior Chandra Teague would lead Corban's offense for the third straight match with a team-high 13 kills, while three other Warriors – junior Olivia Shropshire, junior Jenny Harman, and sophomore Claire Bailey – added eight, seven, and six kills, respectively. Sophomore Katherine Salness would guide the Warriors' offense with a match-high 33 assists, while also adding a team-high 21 digs defensively. Three other Warriors – freshman Kiersten Hilt, Teague, and junior Karisa Legg – also recorded double-digit dig totals with 18, 14, and 10 digs, respectively, while Harman provided a team-high three blocks at the net for Corban.

The opening set would be a battle over the opening 22 combined points until Eastern Oregon broke an 11-11 tie with an 8-2 run to open up a six-point lead (19-13) on a combo block by Irene Walters and Casey Loper. The host Mountaineers would close out the set on a 6-4 run that resulted in the 25-17 victory, as Loper registered the set's final point via a kill.

Set #2 would belong to Eastern Oregon from the outset, as the Mountaineers scored eight of the opening nine points en route to earning an 8-1 lead on a kill by Alisha Crane. EOU would continue to apply the offensive pressure, as the Mountaineers pushed their lead to as much as nine points (24-15) with Loper registering the set's final point once again via a kill for the 25-18 victory.

The third set would see Corban break open a 5-5 tie with a 17-7 run that would result in a 10-point lead (22-12) on a kill by Shropshire. The Warriors' lead was too large for Eastern Oregon to overcome, as Corban closed out the set with a kill by Harman for the 25-19 victory.

The fourth and final set would see Eastern Oregon once again show its offensive firepower, as the Mountaineers built a nine-point lead (14-5) on a bad set by Corban. Despite closing out the set outscoring EOU by one point (10-9), Corban could not overcome its early deficit falling by 10 points (25-15) for the four-set victory.

Three Mountaineers – Loper, Crane, and Taylor Stewart – all registered 10-or-more kills, as Loper led all players with a match-high 14 kills. EOU's Jessica Perron, Bobbi Sumpter, and Karly Stack would each record double-digit assist totals dishing out 21, 14, and 11 assists, respectively, while Kaitlyn Duncan added a match-high 31 digs for the Mountaineers.

Corban will return to action tomorrow – Saturday, September 8th – against the NAIA's No. 13-ranked Coyotes of The College of Idaho beginning at 7:00 p.m. (Mountain Standard Time) inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center in Caldwell, Idaho.
