BOX SCORE

SPOKANE, Wash. – In its final game at the Whitworth Soccer Classic, Corban's men's soccer team battle NCAA Division III member Pacific Lutheran to a 1-1 tie in double overtime Saturday at Omache Field on the campus of Whitworth University.

With today's result, Corban moves to 1-1-2 overall and Pacific Lutheran pushes its 2012 record to 1-3-1.

In an offensive laiden game that totaled 51 total shots, Pacific Lutheran would come away with a slim one shot advantage (26-to-25) over Corban as the Lutes also registered four more shots on goal (9-to-5) than the Warriors.

Pacific Lutheran would waste little time in taking the lead, as Derek Johnson teamed with Jordan Downing a mere 34 seconds into the game on a shot from the top of the box for a 1-0 lead for the Lutes.

Neither team would score again until the 70th minute when sophomore Arsinio Walker teamed with senior Tyler Hagen on an angled shot from the right side for the 1-1 equalizer at the 69:37 mark.

Over the final 20-plus minutes, neither team would score forcing overtime. In the first overtime period, Corban registered one more shot (5-to-4) than Pacific Lutheran yet neither team would crack the goal forcing a second and deciding extra period. In the second overtime, Pacific Lutheran would tally one more shot (3-to-2) than Corban without any shots finding the back of the net ending the game in a tie.

Corban's sophomore goalkeeper Steven Mason would man the Warriors' goal for the entire 110 minutes registering a game-high seven saves, while Pacific Lutheran would platoon its keepers between Sam Watkins and Mike Arguello. Both net-minders would tally a pair of saves, as Arguello would allow Corban's goal in the second half.

After concluding its non-conference schedule, Corban begin Cascade Collegiate Conference play on Tuesday, September 11th, against nationally-ranked Concordia beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Hilken Community Stadium in Portland.
