BOX SCORE

PORTLAND, Ore. – The NAIA's No. 20-ranked Corban men's soccer team watched rival Concordia score four goals in a 13-minute span, as the Warriors dropped their first game of the season Wednesday at Tuominen Yard.

After an evenly-played scoreless first half that saw Concordia (10-4-0, 7-3-0 CCC) register just one more shot that Corban (10-1-2, 7-1-2 CCC), the host Cavaliers erupted for a season-high five goals over the game's final 45 minutes of play.

Concordia came out of halftime with guns blazing, as the Cavaliers wasted little time in putting in the game's first goal in the 53rd minute. The Cascade Collegiate Conference's leading goal scorer Septi Danciu put home his 12th goal of the year at the 52:17 mark when he rebounded his own shot from five yards out for the eventual game-winner.

Just over one minute later, Concordia's Timur Zhividze blasted a missle-like shot from 20 yards out into the upper right corner for his sixth score of the season. After collecting a touch off a Corban defender, Zhividze took one touch to his right and rocketed a shot past a diving Warrior keeper to put the host Cavaliers ahead by two goals (2-0) at the 53:59 mark.

Four minutes later, Concordia would add to its lead when Jordan Green pocketed his second goal of the season into the back off the net off an assist from Radcliffe McDougald in the 58th minute. The scoring play would begin when McDougald's initial shot went off the crossbar to an awaiting Green, who one touched a shot from four yards out for the goal.

The Cavaliers' scoring flurry would end in the 66th minute when Ben Culpan deposited his fourth goal of the season into the back of the net off McDougald's second assist of the night. McDougald would begin the play with a cross from the right side to Culpan, who took one turn and unleashed a shot from 20 yards out into the upper left corner putting Concordia ahead by four goals (4-0) at the 65:36 mark.

Neither team would score again until the 87th minute when Kevin Fischer scored his second goal of the year off an assist from Zhividze. The play would begin with a cross from the right side by Zhividze to Fischer, who turned quickly around a Corban defender before pocketing a shot from eight yards out into the back of the net to cap the evening's scoring resulting in a five-goal victory (5-0) for the host Cavaliers.

Corban would have two golden opportunities to score, as junior Eliseo Santana rifled a shot from 30 yards out just wide of the goal in the 17th minute before freshman Bobby Hutchin sent a shot high of the goal in the game's final minute.

Freshman goalkeeper Jordan Farr would register a game-high eight saves for the Warriors, while Concordia's Arne Niermann needed to make just three saves en route to recording the shutout.

Overall, Concordia controlled the offensive tempo all night with the Cavaliers registering nine more shots (21-to-12) than Corban that included a 13-to-4 advantage in shots on goal.

Corban will return to action on Saturday, October 26th, when they host the Knights of Warner Pacific beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Warrior Field in Salem.
