McMINNVILLE, Ore. – On the second day of the Cascade-Northwest Conference Challenge, Corban's baseball team split a pair of games against Pacific University of Oregon and tournament-host Linfield, 5-4 in 10 innings and 2-5, Saturday at Roy Helser Field.
Corban (8-2) would get a game-winning double in the Warriors' opener against Pacific from sophomore
Jordan Johansen in the top of the 10th inning before junior
Justin White went four innings without allowing a hit against Linfield in the finale.

Marc Gallegos registered a team-leading four hits each, while freshman
Steven Kha turned in a 3-for-5 showing at the plate in the two games. Senior
Matt Hamlin, junior
Lance Foster, and freshman
Landon Frost each registered two-or-more hits on the day, while Gallegos scored a team-high four runs.
GAME #1 – CORBAN 5, PACIFIC 4 (10 INNINGS)
In Saturday's opener, Corban would score a single run in the top of the first inning when Gallegos ripped a lead-off double to center field before moving to third on a fielder's choice off the bat of junior
Gregg Romero. Johansen would then step to the plate and bring Gallegos home on a run-scoring single to center field for an early 1-0 Corban lead.
Neither team would score again until the top of the fifth inning when Corban plated two more runs, as Foster brought Gallegos home following his lead off single up the middle on an error by Pacific's third baseman. One batter later, Hamlin scored Foster on a single up the middle that put the designated visiting Warriors ahead by the score of 3-0.
Pacific would get two runs back in the bottom of the fifth inning when Anson Arakaki singled to second base allowing Dan Jaffe to score before Charlie Gaff advanced to third and scored on an error by Corban to bring the Boxers within a single run (3-2).
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Pacific would tie the game at 3-3 on a single down the right field line by Nick Tasaka that scored Arakaki following his lead off bunt single to third base.
One inning later, Pacific would take its first lead of the game on a one-out solo home run over the left center field wall by Walker Olis that gave the Boxers a 4-3 lead.
In the top of the ninth inning, Corban would get a lead off double to right center by senior
Andy Hill before Hamlin registered his second RBI of the game on a single to left field that scored Hill after he moved to second on a sacrifice bunt to tie the score at 4-all.
Pacific would get a lead off single by Arakaki before he was thrown out attempting to steal second and freshman reliever
Ransom Storm got two straight out to preserve the tie and force extra innings.
In the top of the 10th inning, Gallegos would be hit by a pitch before advancing all the way to third on a throwing error by Pacific's pitcher. Following a line out, Johansen ripped a two-out double to left center that scored Gallegos with the eventual game-winning run as Corban went ahead by a single run (5-4).
Storm would get the first two Pacific batters in the bottom of the 10th inning before Trux French ripped a single up the middle, but had pinch-runner Ben Duerr stranded at first on a game-ending fly out to center field by Olis for the 5-4 victory.
Johansen would lead Corban's offense with a 4-for-6 performance at the plate that included a pair of RBI, while freshman
Daniel Gober got the start allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits over the opening 4.1 innings before a pair of relievers – senior
Caleb Virtue and Storm – close out the game. Virtue would allow one earned run on five hits in 2.2 innings of relief before Storm went the final 3.0 innings allowing one earned run on three hits en route to picking up his first collegiate win.
Pacific was led by Arakaki with three hits, while French and Olis registered two hits each. On the mound, Rob Dittrick went the opening 5.0 innings allowing three runs (one earned) on nine hits before turning the ball over to a trio of Boxer relievers – Jimmy Brakenbush, Nick Morton, and Quin Moore. The relief trio would allow two earned runs on seven hits, as Moore allowed the game-winning run and suffered his second loss of the year.
GAME #2 – LINFIELD 5, CORBAN 2
In Saturday's finale against tournament-host Linfield, White would get the start for Corban and did not allow the Wildcats to register a hit over the opening four innings despite giving up three runs (one earned) on three hits total in 6.0 innings of work.
Linfield would get the game's opening run in the bottom of the second inning when Kramer Lindell was hit by a pitch before advancing to second on a Warrior error and moved to third on a wild pitch. Clayton Truex would then lifted a sacrifice fly into left field that allowed Lindell to score from third and gave Linfield an early 1-0 lead.
In the top of the third inning, Corban would get a lead off single up the middle by Kha before the freshman catcher moved to second on a fielder's choice and then advanced to third on a single to center field by Gallegos. After Gallegos stole second and Romero walked, Corban had the bases loaded with one out for Johansen who reached on a fielder's choice that allowed Kha to score before Gallegos came home on an error by Linfield to give the visiting Warriors a 2-1 lead.
Linfield would tie the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning when Kenny Johnson drew a lead off walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch before moving to third on a fielder's choice. Jake Wylie would then step to the plate and lifted a sacrifice fly into center field that allowed Johnson to score the Wildcats' second run of the game without a hit on the scoreboard.
After Linfield registered its first hit of the game via a lead off double by Truex in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Wildcats would get the eventual game-winning RBI via the home team's third sacrifice fly of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning when Lindell lifted a fly ball into left field allowing Johnson to score for a 3-2 Wildcat lead.
Following a Corban pitching change to start the bottom of the seventh inning, Linfield would plate the game's final two runs on a Tim Wilson double to right center that scored Nick Fisher before Nate McClellen plated Chance Laboda on the Wildcats' fourth and final sacrifice fly of the afternoon resulting in a three-run lead (5-2).
Corban would get a runner on second base in the top of the eighth inning, but could not capitalize in either of the Warriors' final two at-bats.
Kha would lead Corban's offense with a pair of hits, while Gallegos, Foster and Frost each tallied a hit for the Warriors. White went the opening six innings before turning the ball over to senior
David Hull for the final six outs, as Hull allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits.
Linfield was led offensively by five different players with a hit each, while Chris Haddeland went the opening 8.0 innings allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits before Joseph Stevick got the final three outs en route to picking up the save.
Corban will close out play at this year's CCC-NWC Challenge tomorrow – Sunday, February 24th – against Pacific Lutheran University beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Hilken Community Stadium on the campus of Concordia University in Portland.
