Nate Williams went 3-for-5 at the plate that included the first home run of the season, as Corban's baseball team defeated NCAA Division III member Lewis & Clark, 7-0, Tuesday at Huston Sports Complex.
Corban (9-3) got multiple hit performances from Williams, sophomore
Jordan Johansen, and freshman
Lathan Alger, while seven pitchers combined to allow six hits by the host Pioneers. Senior
Jamie McCaffrey got the start for the Warriors allowing just one hit before six other Warriors – freshman

David Hull – combined to allow just five hits over the final seven innings.
Lewis & Clark (0-7) got two hits each by Mike Kinkenon and Matthew Cathcart, while Ryan Strombom allowed three earned runs on six hits in 4.2 innings of work. Five other Pioneer relievers – Alex Heimbrodt, Mike Hathaway, Aaron Landecker, Blake Howell, and EJ Hand – combined to pitch the final 4.1 innings allowing four earned runs on six hits.
Corban would get on the scoreboard in the top of the second inning on a sacrifice fly to right field by senior
Marc Labarthe after the Warriors loaded the bases thanks to a lead off single to left field by junior
Lance Foster followed by back-to-back singles by junior
Peter Martin and Williams. Alger would bring home Corban's second run of the inning on a double to right center that scored Martin for a 2-0 Warrior lead.
In the top of the fifth inning, Corban added another run (3-0) on a double to left center by junior

One inning later, Corban plated two more runs when senior pinch-hitter
Matt Hamlin roped a double to center field that scored sophomore
Jordan Johansen following his lead off double to left field. Following a pitching change by Lewis & Clark, Williams deposited the fifth pitch that he saw over the left field fence for his first home run as a Warrior and the team's first round-tripper of the season that scored Hamlin and made the score 6-0 in favor of the visiting team.
In the top of the seventh inning, Williams drove in his third run of the game on a single back up the middle that scored senior
Andy Hill, who drew a one-out walk and then advance to second on a stolen base, to make the final margin 7-0 in favor of Corban.
Over the final three innings, Lewis & Clark would get one hit and no Pioneer runner would advance beyond second base thanks to timely pitching by Corban's hurlers as the Warriors earned their fourth win this season over LCC.
Corban will return to action on Friday, March 1st, in the NAIA West opener for the Warriors against the NAIA's No. 8-ranked Warriors of Lewis-Clark State in an afternoon double header that begins at noon.
