Freshman Kemar Prince helped Corban kick off the 2013 season with a shutout win over Cal Pac member Simpson, as the Warrior started off the year unbeaten for the seventh straight season dating back to 2006.

Warriors Open Season With Shutout Win Over Simpson

REDDING, Calif. – In the season opener for Corban's men's soccer team and the first regular season game of head coach Aaron Lewis' career, the Warriors shut out California Pacific Conference member Simpson, 5-0, Saturday at Heritage Center.

With today's win, Corban improves to 1-0 on the young season and Simpson falls to 0-1 on the year.

Freshman Kemar Prince sparkled in his collegiate debut scoring a pair of goals and handing out an assist, while junior Arsinio Walker tallied a goal and an assist. Juniors Josh Hamilton and Derik Chaney also added goals, while sophomore Kellen Luey added a pair of assists to go along with an assist by junior James Williamson. Junior Steven Mason picked up the victory in goal after not facing a shot over the opening 45 minutes of play, while freshman Jordan Farr would also see time between the pipes registering a team-high two saves during the second half.

Corban would get on the board early when Walker teamed with Prince in the sixth minute for the eventual game-winning goal at the 5:48 mark.

Less than twenty minutes later, Prince would notch his second goal of the game at the 25:44 mark on an unassisted score that handed Corban a 2-0 lead.

At the 43:45 mark, Hamilton would cap the Warriors' first half scoring when he took a pass from Luey and scored his first goal of the year as Corban took a three-goal lead into halftime.

Just over twelve minutes into the second half, Prince would receive a long throw-in from Williamson before putting home his second goal of the afternoon at the 57:45 mark giving Corban a 4-0 lead.

Exactly twelve minutes later, Chaney would cap the game's scoring after he received a pass from Luey at the 69:45 mark and notched his first goal of the season to push Corban's game-ending advantage to five goals.

All the players on Corban's roster would see action during the game, as the Warriors tallied a combined 24 shots with 50% being on-target.

Corban will return to action on Tuesday, August 27th, against Bethesda University of California beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Warrior Field in Salem.
