BOX SCORE 2 REDDING – For the second consecutive day, Corban lost to host Simpson and defeated William Jessup in softball games played here on Saturday.
Despite out-hitting their opponents by a 10-8 margin, the Warriors dropped an 8-4 decision to Simpson. Against William Jessup, the Warriors collected 14 hits in an 8-5 win.
SIMPSON 8, CORBAN 4
Kaylana Mah stroked a three-run homer in a four-run second inning and that turned out to be the difference in the game. Courtney Thomas had a homer, double, scored two runs and drove in two for the winners.
Kyrianna Sorensen had three hits and
Aubrene Blas hit a homer and drove in two runs for Corban. Blas' sacrifice fly gave the team a run in the first, and she hit her home to left-center field in the fifth.
Jessica Holsinger took the loss in the circle, her first against three victories, allowing eight runs on eight hits in four innings of work.
CORBAN 8, WILLIAM JESSUP 5
The Corban Warriors beat the William Jessup Warriors for the third time in as many tries this season, scoring three runs in the first inning and five more in the fourth.
Taylor Eilders was 3-for-3, Blas and Sorensen both had two hits and two RBI, and
Kylie Durre had a pair of hits to lead the Corban offensive onslaught. They supported
Jessica Slate, who allowed 11 hits in going the seven-inning distance.
Annie Owen led off with a triple and scored on a Blas single to get things going,
Lounette Jackson hit a sacrifice fly and Sorensen added a run-scoring single in the first. In the fourth inning, pinch hitter
McCayla Hoffman led off with a double and scored on a single by Eilders, who came around to score on a double by Blas. Breonna Bajaran followed with a double to drive in Blas, and Jackson delivered the fourth run of the inning with a double. Sorensen then plated pinch runner
Shelby Mauermann with the team's final run.
Corban returns to action on Monday when it travels to Eugene to play Northwest Christian. The teams will conclude an earlier game suspended after five innings with the Warriors holding a 7-1 lead, and they will follow that with a doubleheader.
